holy cow! I finally got a letter! He said he got moved up in rank and finally got a collar device wth is that? he said he also got a medal and a ribbon. He made an imprint of the medal on the letter- I will frame that puppy! He said he is going to be a ceremonial sideboy whatever that is- he told me to look it up. He also drew me a picture of where he wants me to sit. Said he put one of our names under another sr's list. So much thanks to that recruit! We will be adopting that recruit for the weekend and further on out. Said it was 11 days til PIR and he is so ready to leave this place. He wants to go to the mall and eat something greasy and fattening. Said he has lost almost all of his abs because they dont do sit ups and thats a bummer. But he loves the PT. also told me about the 3 hour beating he says "because we are stupid as hell" then we go to bed and lo and behold, another 1:45 beating because we cant be on the toe line in 10 seconds. Then right after that our regular workout. I feel like I have been screwed (not his word) by a train. I hurt all over and to top it off I got another peanut butter shot and I cant even move that butt cheek. I am ready to come home.

Donna & dildraa - we are driving from Fredericksburg, Va.....we are also leaving mid-day Wed and going part way. Hopefully we can get out of town before much of anything falls....could be a long drive if the weather gets nasty!

Gman, the tide pen is to get stains out of your clothing, we dont want our guys and wives getting anything on their uniform that wont come out.

Colleen isnt that the truth- we always know when there is a good steal dont we? Cant beat a suit for under 30 bucks either! Cudawn, I am definitely forgetting squeezing into anything after the last few days of being squeezed from belly button to chin by ace bandage. I think all my innards fell below my belly button and I looked like I had a swimming pool life saving device around my hips. Not my idea of 36-24-36! Not to mention I couldnt put my head down without my chin being greeted by two smashed breasts to my ears. I think I will most definitely forget the girdle, tights, and anything "pressing". As far as my younger son is concerned, I am not sure it is an honor thing or a rivalry thing. They have always tried to dress better than the other one, so I think its a one up kind of thing, but who cares, they will both look nice. My younger son knows this trip is to honor his brother and I will say he is very proud of his brother.

Enjoy! If you forget anything, it probably was not important. Just remember to dress in layers and make sure you do not drop your items through the bleachers - as the SRs have to climb under and fetch them. Have fun! There is a lot to watch : ) ~ kk

Colleen, I just got back from the dr. Got my bandages off and the outer stitches out. Seems like once the swelling goes down a bit I will have identical twins. I will get the inner stitches taken out when I get back. A little bit more sore since I dont have all of that cotton and ace bandages holding them up but I think I will survive. I did get a lighter pain pill that wont knock me loopy thank God! Today is my last day to pack and will be picking up my sons suit from being altered tomorrow then we are outta here! I thought this week would never come. But back to the suit- My 17 yr old said he wanted to wear a suit for his brothers graduation and his others didnt fit, so we went shopping. I found an Oscar De La Renta 3 piece suit that was mispriced at 7.99! I didnt say a word when it rang thru at that price. It was a little big on him, but we took it down and had it altered to fit. Now I am still unsure of what to wear with both of my boys looking so nice... I refuse to wear a dress in chicago weather, sooooo hmmmmmm

Thanks, Keljacmom and Crystaldj1972 for your comments to my post way back on page 47. I only check my email at work so I couldn't believe how many posts there are since Friday. LOL. I was so excited when I got home Friday night because I got my very own letter from my stepson dated Feb 16th. He wanted to thank me for a "Open when having a bad day" letter I had sent him. It was just a bunch of Navy jokes that I had found on the internet. Most of D's letter was explaining about his bad day and said that my letter really cheered him up. Something about having a make up test and a long lunch line. Nothing about battlestations, PIR, or any answers to the 2 dozen questions in my previous letters. Thank goodness for you Navy moms or I wouldn't have a clue on what's going on.

My husband and I spent the weekend packing a bag for our future sailor. My husband actually went shopping with me! Acadamy Sports has some really nice winter jackets (like Carharts) on sale for only $19. I think the shopping trip was just a ruse to go there so he could splurged on a Nikon binoculars for $150. The $10 ones I bought weren't good enough. (His b-day is Mar 5th so he thinks the expense is justified.) So if you see a man at PIR who looks like he's scouting for icebergs or torpedos that's my husband, a Proud Navy Dad!

I have been diligently reading ya'll's posts to see what to bring to PIR. Thanks to JessicaB and all you lovely ladies (and Navy husbands). So far we have packed boxers and lounge pants for D to wear in the hotel room as suggested. We also got him a SuperBowl Saints shirt, a six-pack of Superbowl Saints cokes, and Mardi Gras beads. Lots of junk food. We'll have a laptop so he can check his email and Facebook. Cel phone, Ipod, cameras with chargers. We have Metra train schedule and directions to SuperDawg, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, and the Mall in case he wants to "getaway". Phone numbers for the pizza place that makes deliveries in case he wants to chill at the Navy Lodge. Rats! Forgot the Tide pen so I'll have to go back to Wally World...

Amber! glad to see you are back. Sorry you are feeling like doggie poo, Hope you get rid of that crap and get better, cant have you under the weather for PIR!

We are under a winter weather advisory here in west Texas, expecting 6 inches of snow. That will cripple this part of the area. I hope it doesnt get as bad as they say it will. I have to get on the road tomorrow and Wednesday to drive all over Texas and round up the family before we fly out. Dont want to be driving in a mess. Texas doesnt have snow plows and salt trucks to fix an inch of snow on the road. Pray for clear weather and hope our meteorologist is a liar!
