I made it to Panama city beach this morning at 6 am. Sick as a dog, but the sun is shining and I have lost my homesickness. Now, to go see all of my friends- I miss them so, but just want sleep. Maybe tomorrow. It feels good to look outside and see waves instead of sand blowing!

If you guys stay at hotels in Pensacola don't stay at the Days Inn on Pensacola Blvd. If I were to recommend it I would not feel good about my recommendation.
Rundown and needing updating.

Colleen, how ya feeling dear? I am so anxious to get there I can hardly stand it! I know you are just as excited! Pansacola is actually about 80 miles from panama city, but there is alot of town traffic along the way. It is nothing for us to drive to go spend the day there. Maybe we can get together while you are down. How long are you going to be down? I'll have to send you my number. I'll facebook it to you.

Monica, I am wondering how Derecks first day of classes went today also. He didnt call me tonight, thought he would. Guess I may hear from him in the am. We are so anxious for any bit of news, but thank heavens we are not on pins and needles like we were at boot camp!

Dereck still doesnt want me to send his civvies! He said not to send any snacks, as he is working out and trying to get back in shape. He lost alot while in boot camp because they didnt do alot of working out on all areas and he lost all of his abs. He said they never even did any situps and werent allowed to either.

Funny thing about the whistle. I always told the boys that if they couldnt hear me whistle, then they were too far away from home. They were really glad when I started whistling with my fingers!

I have been sick the last few days, got that dang crud that feels like razors behind your nose and down your throat with a ton of congestion. I havent gotten sick in years! I wonder how much of it is because I am not building swimming pools anymore and am not outside all the time. I would tend to think that builds ones immunity, being in all aspects of the weather. I just sure hope it goes away before I have to make that drive.

My son accidentally called me last night. Had his phone in his pocket. I could hear him rustling around, so I start hollering thru the phone, calling his name. He never even heard it. When he was younger and was outside playing, I would whistle for them to come. So back to the phone- I started whistling and he heard it. I think it startled him, but we laughed that they always answered when mom whistled.

Colleen, I will be in Panama City Beach. 2 hours from Pensacola. I used to golf with my ex husband, many many years ago, but in all actuality, he was the golfer. I was better at driving the cart and drinking his beer! It was rather comical when I played. I will say there are alot of nice golf courses there. I am finally leaving on Thursday. It takes 19 hours to get there from here. I usually drive straight thru, but really see no hurry this time. I may make a few stops along the way. The closer it gets to time to leave, the better I feel. I can almost breathe again! Cant epress what Florida does for me- nothing better!

Dereck said he went bowling with a coupla guys the other night. was proud of his whopping 75 score! lol

Hi All - just checking in, catching up on all your posts. Sounds like all our Sailors are acclimating to their new environments - that's great! My son had rec'd is laptop, cell phone, camera - he is hooled up electronically! I also just sent out a box with a nice selction of civies and some movies....he particularlt wanted The Hurt Locker. Anybody seen it? Hubby and I went to see it about a week ago - awesome but soemwhat frightening movie. Sailor is phasing up quickly - he is thinking he might be able to come home for a weekend in a few weeks ( we live about 3.5 hours form where he is). We talk/text frequently - sure feels good to be able to communicate regularly with him again.
To those who are not feeling well - hope you all get better soon!

Hey all, havent gotten to check in in a few days, I have had relatives visiting before I make my trip back to Fl. Which has also gotten delayed a week. Oh well, I still love seeing the family.
Monica, thanks for the snowbaby, I'll have to go check it out after I get off of here.
My son just got his laptop and phone today. I sent it UPS and seems like it took forever. I havent gotten to talk to him much really. He usually calls at 630 when I am asleep and Im not awake enough to remember all the questions I want to ask him. Hopefully he calls me back tomorrow. He said he cant have his civvies til he is in week 4, so not to worry about sending him his clothes yet.
Dildraa, I too have had a nagging cold that just wont go away, not enough to put me down, but enough to make me feel like crap. I hope it decides to leave my body and find a new home elsewhere, far far away!
Ok ladies and GMan, have a great night and sweet dreams! Sleep with the angels! Im off to bed!
