Hi everybody! Matt is still in Pensacola and will finish his college courses this week. He was home for Thanksgiving and will be home for Christmas for about 3 weeks. Once he gets back after the holidays he should start A school. While he has been in Pensacola he has started dating a girl who is also in the Navy. She is going to spend Christmas here with us. Wow how things have changed since July 31! Merry Christmas to all!

Britt, I am so sorry to hear of this tragedy. I pray that God will give you and Alex's family strength to cope with the loss of his mother and to heal your hurting.

Britt, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. I hope that you are doing okay. I am sure Tracy was so very proud to see Alex graduate. What a terrible tragedy after such a wonderful event. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I sent Matt's computer, ipod and iphone by UPS next day and when I checked the tracking it showed it had been delivered but he actually didn't get it from the base mail room until the next day. The tracking made it nice to check and find out that yes it did make it there even though he was saying he hadn't gotten it yet.

I just got off the phone with the Navy Exchange Photo Lab and I found out that there were 2 photos taken the day of graduation that was not offered on the order form. The lady that I spoke to said if I wanted to order them to add a cover sheet that stated that I wanted to purchase the 2 photos taken in the Drill Hall on PIR 7/31. They are an 8X10 of the division marching in and one of the division during the ceremony. Each photo is $8.00 plus the $9.00 shipping. I know the photos were mentioned in an earlier post but thought I would pass the specifics on in case anyone wants to order them.

Okay great ladies of knowledge-how do I send my son's things to him? FedEx or UPS I assume. Does anyone know exactly what they are allowed to have at this point? I don't know what I would have done these last few months without being able to turn to ya'll for information.

My son called at 7:30 EST this morning from the airport. He was in that group that had been up since 1:30 this morning and had been at the airport since 4:30. His plane was to leave at 9:00 for LA, then a 1 hr.10min. layover for a 45 min. flight to Oxnard! He seemed to be happy to leave Great Lakes!

Matt called me at 3:30am and said that he got up at 1:00 to go to the airport for a flight to Pensacola at 5:45am (supposedly). He said that there were about 80 people at the airport going to different destinations. This was the first time he got to call since we left him Sunday. So glad he will be closer to home now 7 hour trip as opposed to 20 hours. Can't wait to see him again.

I agree with some of you others-it was hard saying good-bye. His sister cried, then he cried, I cried, his wife cried. they were better than I-I cried allmost all day Sunday and then missed both times he called Sunday evening- I was able to get his voice messages and he will call Wed. from the airport when he leaves for A-school. It was so nice to meet Jonie and Matt's Mom, and some of the other Navy Moms. Our daughter-in-law announced to him that the baby is a girl-she waited to grad to tell him in person! We spent Sat. in chicago-he enjoyed the water taxi ride, something he wanted to do adn he wanted to go up the Willis tower and he did to the sky deck plexi-glass platform, but they waited in line 2 hours after they had paid! They could have gone in free with military IDs, but the tower people wanted to make copies of their ID's and so they paid rather than risk that. He had a lot of anxiety about getting back on time, too. It WAS an awesome ceremony!
