~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

4Maineboys:  They call the SRs by their LAST names so most don't know their "shipmates'" first names

jillymama, So sorry your son got sick. Mines Ship 14 Div 198. I got a letter from him yesterday (Friday) which was sent out last Tuesday... He was looking forward to this week. Sure hope he didn't get sick! Sounds like they need to clean the equipment more.

@Eileen, it sounds like everyone's jobs changed this past week. My son is in DIV 200 as well. Will you all be at the meet and greet?

I got a letter from my son yesterday also.  He is in Div 200.  He was working in the mailroom but got moved to scheduling medical appointments and making sure that everyone gets to their appointments.  He said he likes the job.  Thankfully he has not been sick!  He sounds like he is doing well.  He said he has lost 22 lbs.  I can't wait to see him!

My son is also Ship 14 Div197. Mine missed out on pink eye, but was SIQ for 2 days with a bacterial infection. He said that it was the practice weaponry (fake firearms). They are handled by so many SR's, that they are one of the main reasons for the illnesses.

We will be at the meet and greet as well, ship 14 div 197. Got another letter from my son. He got a little bit of rest last sunday as conjunctivitis is going around! He also sent me some of his friends names....funny he said he had to ask their names so made me wonder what the RDCs call them. Seems like he's making his way. Can't wait for PIR and Sarge's to meet everyone.

I received a letter from my son today as well, Div 200. It was the first letter I received since the form letter. He has been sick several times, but he is pushing through counting down the days for PIR. He sounded homesick and said, he thinks about me everyday and misses my corny jokes and cooking. the days as ticking by so fast. I send him a card of encouragement every other week and in between I write letters which he appreciates. He really got a kick out of the picture my granddaughter sent him, Lol! Uggh, can't wait until PIR.

@Joanne, I received a letter from my son today as well.  What's funny is that my son told me he had PO orders and was moved to laundry detail.  He told a very similar story about how others said they wanted him to stay but he went to laundry anyway.  He said he was fine with whatever they told him to do.  It's always so great to hear from him.  We are DIV 200 so we will see you all at the meet and great too!
