For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.
~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

For those who can fly into Milwaukee, it is a quicker drive to RTC (because of no traffic)...and car rental probably is cheaper. Southwest Airlines (no change fee, 2 bags check for free) flies into both MKE and Chicago-Midway.

Sethsmom: Is your SR going to be staying in GL for A School? If so, they get PIR day after moving over there (shortly after PIR is over), Saturday and Sunday, with overnights on the A School base.
If flying out, they will not know for sure which day they leave until they get their final orders/flights after BattleStations. Most will be flying out Saturday but sometimes a few lucky ones stay over until Sunday and in that case, those sailors will have Fri after PIR, Saturday (overnights at RTC), and Sunday visiting at the airport with your new sailor. Hope it works out to have that extra time if yours is flying out!

Heard from my son yesterday afternoon. So good to hear his voice again. Sounds like he is doing well. Really miss hearing from him more often. He is in Division 197 - his girlfriend was told that they will have liberty on Friday, 6/23 and Saturday, 6/24 - has anyone been told the same thing?

should clarify that I'm not talking about the smurfs/fitness uniform....whatever they are using there now. They keep that and usually travel home in it.

....to add to ellen's post below....the only way they won't keep their uniforms if they get discharged before Bootcamp concludes....then even if they paid for them already, they do not get them. But....know this won't happen to anyone in this group! All will be become sailors! Yep, positive thinking on all!

All of the uniforms that are issued in BC are theirs, they will have paid for them...sort of. Their uniforms are paid by the recruits through a clothing allowance.

Don't think this TG was issued the smurfs as we know them Cryptodad. I am guessing they have been issued the new fitness suits, from the timing of the roll out at RTC.
Perhaps they will continue to call the new fitness suit smurfs.
