~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option.

~It is also a good idea to change your visibility settings for your Profile Page (MY PAGE) to "Just my friends".

sspaws, There are a couple things you can do, and sometimes exceptions to the rule.

If your Sailor is flying out on Sunday, he may have a buddy who is also flying out that has family staying through Sunday. You can arrange to give them his cell phone to give to him at the airport.

The exception to the rule. Once in a blue moon, and possibly as rare as unicorn sightings, or it snowing in Phoenix on the 4th of July, the RTC allows those new Sailors, flying to Pensacola on Sunday, to take their phones back with them to the RTC on Saturday. Of course the Sailors must vow not to use them, under the threat of losing them forever.

There is also overnight mail if needed. Once they get to Pensacola they will have their address. One phone call from them with the address on Sunday, one little box with their phone, overnight mail with the post office and voilà, phone on Tuesday.

Take a deep breath, no stressing allowed. Remember your Sailor has been without a phone for weeks, what's one or two more days for them. :)

Mozzie, The norm on liberty time PIR weekend for those flying out is liberty after PIR until approx 8pm. The Sailors must be back to the RTC and in their ship by 8pm, so return them early.

They are bused to the airport in the wee hours of Saturday morning for flight leaving Sat. Most Sailors, if not all in a TG will leave on Sat. There are a few exceptions to the Sat, but that generally involves Sailors headed to Pensacola (flight issues).

Nope nothing can be taken back to the RTC on Friday. A few exceptions like a new watch, a single, approved by regulation necklace that can be worn under their uniform, new underwear (LOL).

You can get a gate pass from the airline ticket counter that allows you to accompany your Sailor to the gate and remain with him/her until the flight leaves. Your Sailor will need to be with you to arrange that, so arrange a time on Friday to meet them.  Once your Sailors are at the airport they can have all electronics, and anything else requested.

Your recruit/Sailor will not know his A School orders until sometime in the last couple weeks of BC, and may not know until the day of PIR.

My SR said we can "have him" Friday after graduation but he needs to report back to base in the evening.  They shuttle him to the airport Sunday for his flight to A School - does anyone know what will happen Saturday?  Will we be able to spend any time with him then?

Also - they canNOT have their cell phones on base.  Does anyone have any ideas about getting it back to their SRs before they fly out to their schools?

Who else has a SR in ship 12 div 193?
Comment by ellen0502 on May 23, 2017 at 3:57pm

Every division has a brother division. If your recruit is in an odd numbered division their brother division is the division immediately following.  In reverse for even numbered divisions.

the 800 and 900 divisions do not have brother divisions unless there is another 800 or 900 division in the TG.

@SailorMoon- my daughter is on Ship12 div 193 - of what I understand they are "brother divisions" and are training together. I heard from my girl on Mother's Day, and have gotten a few letters from her so far... I think my mail is really delayed, and it sounded like she was writing everyday. I hope she's getting ours, since we have been sending one just about everyday!
