Had an awesome time at PIR 5/13!  Our time with our new Sailor was very short - only about 6 hours on Friday and he flew out this morning at 6 a.m.!  We were able to spend about  1 1/2 hrs. at the airport this morning - BTW that wasn't enough time!  sigh

When I'm not so tired, I'll post more.  Just wanted you all to know how excited and proud we are of our new Sailor and all of the nearly 600 Graduates!

About the USO: My Sailor has found the support services provided by the USO to be so very important for making his life easy... and there is an idea that I have heard floating around which seems to be worthwhile...

Are you familiar with the Pennies for UNICEF campaign, promoted annually during Halloween? Or the March of Dimes campaign that was for a long time linked to Easter...??? Well, the idea that came up with some of us the other day is to make a similar 'service' association between the USO and the 4th of July.

The overarching objective is 3-fold: To promote a general awareness of how vital the USO is to all men and women in every branch of the military; To support the efforts of the USO with some sort of (simple) 'fundraising' project (ideally tied to traditional 4th of July activities so that people don't have to 'go out of their way' to participate, but can get involved by doing whatever they normally do... only with one added USO element <smile>); To show ALL our military men and women how very much we appreciate what they are doing for us by supporting an organization that does so very much for them.

Anyway, like I said, it is an idea that seems worth sharing... and I for one would love to participate with others all across the nation in a show of solidarity like this. How about you? (((hugs)))

LMC - Check, Check and Check!!  Even remembered to make his favorite chocolate chip cookies!  Hot out of the oven this morning.  Granted, he won't get them till tomorrow, but if I keep them in a warm car........they'll kinda have "that fresh out of the oven" taste!  He won't care - anything from home will taste good!
