Hi momof2sailors, we meet again.  My son is on the GW, but says he believes he is coming to Point Mugo (hasn't seen a hard copy of his orders yet).  I'm curious if he is changing his job, he is currently assigned to a squadron.   Currently on deploy, so the communication is sparse...look forward to hearing what the next step in his journey will be.  At least this is just a simple flight away.  I'm in NY

My son told me yesterday that he was going to a BBQ and he was gonna ask the guys about a nice hotel in the area right. So I call him this morning and he tells me he asked but didn't get a straight answer because they guys were drunk. UGH!!!! He needs to ask them when they are sober. Like perhaps at work TODAY....

Thank you Valerie. I have been telling him now for a month to call and make reservations . UGH!!!

I am headed to Pt Mugu to see my son on 8/3. And of course he has waited to the last minute to call the Navy Lodge. So now they have no rooms. Does anyone know of a nice hotel close to the base that isn't going to cost a arm and a leg?

Hi all, I haven't been on the website at all for some time, but now that my son is deployed want to try to keep up with things better!  He is with the Wallbangers VAW 117 and currently out to sea.  So proud of him!  Got to talk to him twice over the weekend while they were on liberty, he sounded great!

Anyone know anything about shipping a car to CA? My son purchased a brand new Toyota from his cousin who works for a dealer. With having my sons POA I went in and signed the papers for him. Now to get it to him. HELP!!!!

My son arrives on Tuesday 2/5. Can anyone tell me if there is a shuttle from LAX Airport to the base? He was told he needed to take a taxi. But if it is 1 1/2 drive isn't that going to be really expensive? And I don't trust the Navy to reimburse him either.

Nancy,

My son has been in since 5/26/09. He PCS'd back to the states from Japan back in August for "A" school again. He is changing rates. He graduates "A" school in Pensacola Feb 4th and then will be sent to PT Mugu. He was hoping to get stationed up here in the NW. Not sure what or if he will be attached to a squadron. He re-enlisted as "FTS". I am in the process of finding him a car now. His cousin works for a car dealer up here in WA. Where are you guys from?

Johnna,

I "saw" you on the "Anyone...Lincoln" group & was happy to know another person who has a child @ Pt Mugu. My son is heading back there. His rate is PR.
