BeachBunny, I will ask him, are they able to use bikes? He was talking about a getting a car but right now he can't afford one. I said to buy a bike but he wasn't sure if they can in uniform. Do you know if they can in uniform?
Well... He may get one soon...one squadron should be back from deployment soon... Ask him if he's in the newly remodeled barrack...there's a couple sets of barracks and then some housing on base... When I was there the sailors seem to get along, joking with each other at the barracks, there's watch duty too... barracks are a ways from the hangar bays and many share rides to work, saw one on a bike too....It's a small high security base that is secluded with a big city about 15 miles east and bigger base about 20 miles north.
Talked to my son last night, he wasn't happy no room mate and only knows 1 other sailor. I told him you only been there 24 hours you need to give it time. my heart was breaking for him.I hope in time he will change his mind.
I heard ya...mines been gone more then there...20 out of the last 24 months......but not for long!!
I've been several times...I stay at the Beach Motel right on the beach on base...so excited to go back after the remodel is done...it really needed some TLC....
