I think it would be great to have a place to post requests, answers, or just general prayers for Class 281 or any pre-bud family. Everyone is Welcome!

Kathy, go to the Pre-buds group and there should be a link to 280 BUDS group. My son has been to Chicago a few times with some buddies and he didn't say anything about anything bad happening, but then he knows I worry. They are supposed to go out in 3's.

That is funny...we are from Colorado and my son is used to pretty cold weather and water for that matter. He trained for a couple summers swimming in the Colorado River and the river us usually between 55 & 60 during the summer. But, when he was at boot...he froze, not used to cold with humidity.

Welcome Kathy! This is a great group!
I just bought plane tickets for G to come home for Thanksgiving. He thinks he will make it to December in Illinois with just a sweatshirt! (He has lived in CA all his life) I told him he has no idea how cold it is going to get!
Happy Friday everyone!

Hello everyone...if I remember correctly, we actually got his pictures from him at his PIR...then about a month or two later, we received the Keel. I remember this because he kept arguing with me about what it was called...he said it was just called a "Yearbook...because a keel is a large beam around which the hull of a ship is built" and I said "No, it's called the "Keel"! LOL!!

AZOKmom, you are the BEST, Luv ya.

The Keel might still come then because B ordered a picture package and we got the DVD already. I have the pics and there was an order form in it. I'll check it out. I'm thinking of asked B to buy me another Navy Mom sweatshirt at the NEX and bring it with him when he comes home. It was a lot less expensive than ordering one on line and it is NICE! I wonder if he could buy stuff and ship it home (I'd pay of course). Does anyone know? If so I'd get a few like "my uncle is a sailor" for my granddaughter.

Did your guys order the Keel or did you? SA must not have ordered it. He sent me a text that they are getting ready for possible inspection tomorrow.

Kelly, I PM'd you and I love the pictures on your page!! Kim, my picky sailor only "really" liked one of the 3 flavors of power bars in the box. He's nuts, I liked them all! LOL I'm ready for work, like an hour early this morning, couldn't sleep last night.

The protein bars I got at Costco are called "Premier Protein."
