I haven't seen many postings lately anywhere. My son is still at Whidbey, returned from a 9 month deployment in April. he will be going to the Weapons School at Whidbey sometime next year. we are living in Oak Harbor for the last 2 years and are enjoying it and our new grandson! hope everyone is well.

GOOD MORNING LADIES. I just checked in and realized my last posting was Sept 3 2013! How many of you still have your Prowler or Growler assuaged to NAS Whidbey Island? Son Chris left VAQ 139 after he transtioned to the Growler. He is still   in Oak Harbor as an instructor. I just met a mom whose son is at Whidbey is an Intelligence Officer for VAQ 139. Hope you're all well.

Hi Flyboymom and others. Our son Chris transitioned in 2011, he's spent the last year becoming. Mission Commander and qualified Air Wing LSO to start his next assignment...going back to the Rag to be a flight instructor for the next 2 years.

Just got back from a meeting with our GA congressman. i'm a member of the Navy League of the US and went with our Legislative Affairs Rep. We made a case to ask for his support and encouragement of others in Congress to replace sequestration with something other than a straight across the board cutting of the budget. We need to keep informing and encouraging them to not reduce our military efforts...especially at this time of Crisis in the Middle East.

Likewise I add my prayers and best wishes to all. I talked to my son Chris. He just got back from workups in Fallon NAS near Reno. So, he had today off since they just got back very late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. He knew the pilots so a lot of activity was going on in the background with his wife on the phone with the other Navy wives to planning on how they will support the families over the coming days. This is the one thing I worry about for my son as he will be moving over into a flight instructor position later this year in VAQ-129 (rag)

I also talked to my son. He is doing similar work like your son as Mission commander for his unit, but he will not go out with his squadron but move over to VAQ-129.

Hi flyboymom! Great to hear from you and hear you had a great Christmas holiday in Texas. We didn't see our son and our daughter in Boston couldn't get home for the holiday either, but she's arriving next Monday for a week.

What is mission commander (my son hasn't mentioned that). He's currently in Fallon as part of workups his squadron is going through for a deployment later this year. However, he won't be going with them as he'll move over to the rag as a Growler instructor for the next couple of years.

Hello to all the others! Hope your Prowler/Growler aviators are doing well, too.

Ladies...I got a few minutes downtime from baking cookies and decided to sign on. Looks like we've all been busy this year. How is everyone and your pilots?

We hadn't see our son since he did a visit to his grandmother in Boston when we were up there, too, over the 4th of July week. And we hadn't seen his wife and daughter since a year ago early August. So, Paul and I packed our bags and flew up to Whidbey Island for our granddaughter's 2nd birthday on Oct. 14. What a wonderful week there. The best part was getting down on the floor and playing with Emma. What a whirlwind of activity! I brought along one of her daddy's favorite toys as a little boy...his 15 ft. long track and box of matchbox cars. She adored it just as much, especially the brand new, pink match box car I found for her to add to the collection. We played with it all week. Added bonuses was excellent weather, a drive up Mt. Baker, and a VIP tour of the USS RR (in dry dock) that Chris was deployed on last year. What a site to see. I have an influential good friend and neighbor who's a RADM and contacted the CO of the ship!

I look forward to updates from you all. And, I wish you all a Blessed Holiday Season!

I hope you'll all catch us all up to date

Welcome DadInValley. Wish we were as close to Whidbey Island as you are! We're in the Atlanta area, so we don't get up to the northwest often. My son's VAQ-139.

flyboymom ...My son is VAQ-135.  We got back a few weeks ago from seeing him before deployment.

Good afternoon everyone! Beautiful day here and catching a break from a garage sale we're doing with other neighbors.

Talked to my son...He said transition of all Prowler squadrons won't be done till 2015! And, he also said that they are about half done. So, we either wait till they're all done, or with only 9 of us see how many are Prowler or Growler. If 5 or more are Growler, switch now to Growler Group. They'll be there eventually!

Have a good weekend.

Comment by Diane2557 on April 27, 2012 at 7:53pm

At my age you're asking me, flyboymom? I think we agreed we'd wait till everyone transitions. How many more? My son's VAQ139 and they are transiting now. He claims they should be done by [end?] August. I'll ask him if he nows when it should be completed.

Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well! Have a great weekend.
