Hey flyboymom, we live over by oshkosh. summer is great here, 70's and no humidity is a dream. last winter was awful, neverending. winter always comes too soon but i still have two kids at home to shovel.  :)

Last time I asked my son I think he said that about half the squadrons have changed or are in the process. His is still a prowler squadron, he works on engine maintenance. I like the idea of being a prowler and growler group.

Diane, enjoy your tiger cruise. I did one last year on the Eisenhower and it was great!

sounds good to me-DS will be training officer for a Growler squadron-VAQ 130, and I still love those Prowlers!

maybe keep the Prowler group and add Growlers?

Do we still have any of the 8 still flying Prowlers? We should "transition" once they're all flying Growlers. Then what do we do? End the old and start a new group?

maybe with all the transitioning going on, we should call this site Growler Moms!

Hello Ladies. Not very active, but there's so many sites (N4Ms and Facebook) dedicated to our sailors. I've been mostly on the site for his ship. They are on one of their next to last port calls before heading home. My husband and I will be heading out in just over 2 weeks to meet him at their last port call and then be part of the Tiger Cruise.

Flyboymom: he'll get back to base early September, but might have to go out again on a 6 or 8 week deployment. He and his wife are not happy about that as he will miss his daughter's first birthday after being gone 7+ months already. Once that is over, he'll begin transitioning to the Growler. How does your sone like the Growler? Has he been assigned to a squadron yet? Most of them are there in WA, one other in Japan and another in NC.

Have a great day!

DJ...how was your visit with your son? Has he now settled in with his new squadron? What excitement around the USS CV in April! By the way, the USS RR (Chris' carrier) replaced the USS CV.
At the time of his visit to you we were in Boston attending our youngest's graduation from college. Our son's wife and daughter came, too. We hadn't seen our granddaughter since she was here for her Christening in early January and just before Chris' deployment.
Here's a picture Chris sent us yesterday that he found on the ship's intranet and it's Chris flying the jet!
He did say he's tired and ready to come home. The ship is planning a Tiger Cruise at the end (late August/early September) and we're hoping to be part of those final 5-7 days sailing between Hawaii and San Diego!

Yes, VAQ-134 is assigned to the Vinson and it was his carrier that received Bin Laden's body for burial. My son's ship just replaced your son's ship over there.

Good morning ladies. I don't get around to all my groups much these days. Some have just gotten too large, I don't know the group and it takes forever to go through all what's been posted from one day to the next. I do keep in touch daily with the USS RR group since I can tract what and where the ship and air crew are doing. DJ, is your son assigned to an airwing that's connected to a ship now? Which one?

Ladies, I hope you all have a great Mother's Day and here from your children.
