Thanks to the many moms and more that are here and ready to help when a sailor is in need! It is amazing to know that no matter where our sailors travel in the United States there is a mom there ready to rescue them with a hot meal, place to stay, or help to get back on the road!

To be added to the list send me (Susan mom to Niko) a friend request. Then you can send me a private message with your name, location and phone number. Then you are added to the list!

Allison, are you getting the whole story from your son? If this is a legitimate order from the Navy, it should have either housing in the barracks or equivalent or some stipend for housing, of which the sailor can use to get an apartment else where. Official orders come from a chain of command. Susan's suggestion of talking to the Ombudsman is a good idea. Have you talk to his recruiter? Maybe I am reading this wrong. Are you telling us that perhaps it is your son's idea and he hopes that if he can arrange for housing, then he will go to his CO and ask for authorization to attend this class? This just isn't the way the Navy works. What if I arrange for my son to be stationed at the port of his choice at all times by offering to subsidize his housing? Would that be fair to other sailor? A couple of dots are not connecting for me. Not to say it's not possible - just improbable.
I am a 61 year old real estate agent. My husband is a 62 year old attorney. Between the two of us, we have seen just about everything.

If I was going to be in the San Antonio area I would take him. I will be in the Greenville area.

Susan J,
As soon as I have a new address and phone number I will get it to you ASAP. Our cell phones will remain the same tho.

How about writing the San Antonio Rotary Club or Kiwanis Club? If you can't find the name of the current SA Rotary Club Pres, I'll get through my husband who is a Rotarian locally. Have you check in with the N4M in San Antonio (some of them probably don't check in with this group)? Can you do a fund raiser for home at your home town?

Alison, I am confused. I thought the Navy always provided housing or money towards housing. Shouldn't the Navy provide something? Why is this an exception? Hope you find someone to help.

Hey Laura... There are also a couple of groups on this site that gathered sailors for the holidays last year... one was Holiday Homes

Laura
Each base has a list of people who adopt a sailor(s) for the holidays. Have your sailor contact the chaplain if any questions.
