Hi April, my son returned from Iraq 1 month ago. He never sounded quite right to me either while he was deployed. He really looked forward to mail from home. Each time he would tell me he would be "out of contact" for a while, he would say "please don't stop writing, though"! Send me your son's address pm, or e-mail (lolasnugharbor@yahoo.com) to me.
Hang in there, and stay in touch with other moms/families!

April, Last time someone's sailor needed a little "morale boost", I had to go and buy a card. So while I was there I bought a bunch!! So I'm ready to send if you would please send me his address at pleazenby@comcast.net.

Karen, If you think it would be of help, I would gladly send a card to your son too! See my email address above.

my son was helped immensely. One person picked him up in Illinois the first time his car broke down and they took him to get it fixed, and back to the hotel. then he stayed in Tulsa with a mom who fed him and let him spend the night. Then when his car broke down again, an OK mom again picked him up, fed him, took him to the airport, and another picked him up at the airport in San Diego. there are no words to say thank you enough. More moms worked in the background to orchestrate all this while I was working a new job. (too many personal phone calls) So it works for some. I am extremely grateful.

All....Ok its not my sailor that needs help its me. Here's whats going on. The best daughter-in-law in the world is back in Virginia with my two granddaughters, while my son is deployed.

Mothers day is coming up and I wanted to be able to send my daughter-in-law out to dinner at their favorite resturant.

I called the resturant in Chesapeake, VA and they sell certifcates, but they don't mail them out. I try'd talking to the manager and he said no also.

I guess because I understand how hard it is for her to be 24/7 with the girls I want to be able to surprise her and send her out to her favorite resturant.

Is there a mom out there that would be willing to go and pick up a gift certificate for me from this resturant in Chesapeake, VA?

Please contact me on my page if you are able to help out.

Did I mention that I live in California, so picking it up myself is out of the question.

Donnita... isn't it wonderful to know that just a few words on paper can make such a difference??? We forget that when we are away from home that a call is nice but those cards and letters can be read and reread anytime they are needed... So happy to hear that your sailor was 'picked up' by the them!

Hello All!
What happened with this rescue site was there was so much 'chatter' (which I love and am guilty of) that people were complaining that they were no longer watching the page... they were tired of checking to see who needed help and finding it was just a good old fashioned chat going on.

So the original Susan started a post for a rescue only page/discussion. That way we can still chat on this original page and keep the rescue posting in one specific spot so it is easier to identify when help is needed...

No one would ever want an in need sailor to be missed... Hope that explains things... please speak up if we need to alter a message. This is a great group that is so very giving to be ready to rescue a sailor in need. We all want things to be positive and supportive. Life is just tooooooo short for anything else!
