That is so funny! I just spoke to him and said "I taught you to read a map in Boy Scouts, please tell me you at least have one in the car, after the GPS steering you wrong." He said, yeah, I got one. A map and an Atlas. Good guy! A bridge! who da thunk it? No I'm sure it wasn't funny then, what time of year was it? After A school or boot camp? Well, we'd have to work out the logistics. Surely some other organization has done something similiar we could find out and not re-invent the wheel. I can't believe I'm not in bed. Get up and do it all over again. Thanks to all my friends!!!!! Luv ya!

WEll, he called from Ottawa illinois. Its 29 there feels like 14.
I don't know how he got off 55, but his GPS told him to take that road, so I told him to get back on 39 to Bloomington. But its snowing and its dark, I told him to get a room, but he wants to make it to St. Louis. Bloomington is like 21 and feels like 9 !!! Springfield is back to around the same temp as Ottawa. Do we know anyone in Bloomington or Springfield or St. Louis? Jeff's mama, your so sweet! LOL, he's been to those, and pampered chef, and lots of 'em.

I put down during the summer for my home to be a "stop", but not many go this way I guess. Its the main thoroughfares that I wish we could document somehow and have a list. I'm on the way to Beaumont, TX if anyone EVER comes this way.

Wow! look at all the Iowa and Nebraska homes! Well, we just switched from that route and instead my sailor is heading straight south to St. Louis first stop tonight. So if anyone is real close to Hwy 55 (even a little before St. Louis) call me at 936-635-5270 and I'll give you his phone number. Surely they don't care if I post my phone #, as long as I don't post his....
Tomorrow heading to OK City OK and then Flagstaff. I know we have some Flagstaff. he he.

the yahoo and google say gl to des moines, to omaha to denver to las vegas to san diego. if you put in waukegan and san diego on yahoo or google maps, this is the route. However, Mary told me there is black ice up that way. He'll be leaving Dec. 1st. Are you right next to Utah?
Comment by CCR on November 17, 2008 at 8:51pm
oops, I meant, albequerque, flagstaff and then san diego. (not phoenix)

has anyone helped their child plan a trip from GL to San Diego? I have tried yahoo and don't like their way (through iowa, nebraska, then utah, and on down. Seems its so cold, it'll be icy and snowy that way.) I would think go straight down away from the ice through missouri then on over to amarillo and through albequerque and phoenix. What are your thoughts? Its gonna be around 35-36 hrs drive.
