100628-N-6720T-168 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 28, 2010) The guided-missile destroyer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 85) fires an MK 45 five-inch gun during a live-fire exercise. The MK 45 gun is a fully-automatic naval gun capable of providing accurate naval gunfire against fast, highly-maneuverable surface targets, air threats and shore batteries. Curtis Wilbur is assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15, part of the Navy's only permanently forward-deployed naval force and is underway supporting security and stability in the western Pacific Ocean. Hello, all. My sailor is finishing up A School in GL and has received his orders for the CW. He is so excited and I am too, although I hate that he will be all the way across the world from me. We have just recently reunited (haven't seen him since he was 5 - long story; very painful topic) and now he is leaving to go half a world away.

Tammy,

I talked to my son the other day and asked if he knew Ryan and he said he did. He told me that he would see what he could do for you. He knows first hand how a Mom worries when she does not hear from her son or daughter. No thanks are needed. I am just glad that he contacted you.

I usually put money in my son's bank account so that he can get what he wants. Also, I send him beef jerky, slim jims, pistachios, cashews, hard candy. Things like that and he usually shares with his friends and ship mates because I send him so much. Just ask him what he is needing and usually if you shop and send early, he will get it before Christmas.

Hi Tammy, my son is an OS on the USS Curtis Wilbur. When I send mail to my son, this is the address that I use.
OS2 his name
USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54)
his unit/his division
FPO, AP 96683-1272.

I guess all you would have to do is to put in your sons rate/rank, his name then for his unit and division. My son is OPS/01 Division. I don't know what your son's would be. You might try that for a mailing address. Did your son get an email address for the ship yet? My son has one so he should be able to get one.

Yes, there are times when I don't hear from my son for a couple of months. I think they are out right now. It could be a month before I hear from my son. I of course send him emails to the ship 2 or 3 times a week. His email for the ship has his name or at least part of it, Example: name@ddg54.navy.mil

Have your son check out getting a ship's email address.
