Yes we are from Oklahoma. He has an 11 month old daughter that he hasn't seen since July when he left for basic. Her mother hasn't let her travel to see him and he misses her the most. We have a good friend (like a brother to him) that is EOD and was stationed in San Diego a couple years ago. We went to visit and that's when he started thinking about the Navy. He really liked it out there and he couldn't get any closer to home right now. That's great that you are moving to be with him. That has to make things better!

Hi Rachel, My son will be stationed at North Island in December. He is really looking forward to it. He will graduate A school on Monday! What is your husbands rate? My son is AM and will work on helicopters.

its 65 at night and 75 during the day here at Coronado Island Naval Air Base, and I'm bragging I'm in San Diego visiting my son who graduated from C school today. Two parents, one girlfriend and one wife were there and we all are going to have dinner tomorrow night. Isn't that wonderful? I walked for 5 hrs yesterday on the island to see the Hotel Del coronado (they say its Haunted!!!!) and strolled the beach. Too cold to swim though. Today it was a million stairs on the USS Midway museum. Bye ya'll! My sailor looks great!

Let it be a surprise! How hard will it be to contain yourself? When will this be? I'm leaving in 5 days for SD!! Yippee!

Barbara, I'm getting a visual of you sucking out that air with a straw, LOL!

oh my gosh, you gave me a craving for girl scout cookies. I didn't get any this year.

Barbara, speaking of sugar cookies, my sons favorite cookie is SNICKERDOODLES! I spent weeks making different kinds, using a clean hand vacuum and suck out the air of the ziplock bags in the corner. That helped them ship without crumbs bettter, but not totally. It was especiallly helpful overseas to include the ghost poop in the box. Those little white peanuts. ha ha

Maureen, another couple that met in the Navy while ya'll were corpsman? We have several friends (couples) that met in the Navy before our son even thought about joining.

Joanne, so is she an FC?
Maureen, he is going to Japan. The Blue Ridge. 3 years.
Barbara, last year I used to only send cookies but I'd be cooking a week to have all the different varieties. Then I realized I was eating a lot of cookies too. So we've had 6 get togethers in Texas and we started doing boxes at them (except for the Memorial Day Ranger Game) and I send a LOT of MK in my cases of goodies. Even mens stuff, they need sunscreen and soap too. I also like sending herbs along with the snacks for them to cook with. Then we starting collecting magazines. The sailors overseas really miss reading mags. Thank you for bringing it up every now and then to remind us!
