For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

What can be taken to 'A' school
My son's PIR is on 10/03/14 and he will leaving for A school the next day. He has asked for me to bring him some items, but I am not sure what all he can take. Can he have personal items such as his regular clothes etc..Is he permitted to bring some of his own snacks. Any information you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mimi,
If you scroll down in the "Discussions" section in this group a little further down than the one you started, you'll see a discussion titled, "Breakdown Week by Week" started by Lemonelephant. That is a very handy and recently updated post that tells you everything from what to bring to the airport after PIR to what you should mail to them and when. I can tell you that he won't be able to wear civilian clothes (except in the privacy of his room - maybe) until he graduates A school and he won't be able to drive, but he can have whatever snacks he brings to the base with him and his cell phone (your lifeline to him) and laptop. You may want to forewarn him that cell-phone reception is pretty terrible in the barracks and internet signal isn't great either, It works enough for him to get by though.

Hi Holly,
Thank you. Yes that week by week was great. In one of his letters he has asked me to bring with us to graduation a whole list of things I did tell him I would mail him a lot of that but wanted to see what he could actually have. :) He is craving some of his favorite protein snacks. I can't believe we only have 6 days left.. I am so excited.

Mimi I don't know. He told me he couldn't take his phone to A school, so he said I didn't have to come to the airport. He didn't tell me when he was leaving or from what airport. I have no idea how long he was waiting as it seemed there were several groups leaving at different times.
