I can tell you this much our sailor left base for the airport at 3am for a flight that left at 5pm.  he was able to get us through security so we could be with him and see him off he left from Midway airport which is about an hour from boot camp base

Thanks for the great info! I was wondering what airport he would fly out of and what time his flight would be... it's probably different each PIR though depending on flight availability and how many are flying to the same place

Welcome CTsailor, my son graduated from A school in October of last year, they can have their cell phones and computers at A school.  We met our sailor at the Midway airport and spent time with him there on Saturday before his flight and that is where we gave him his laptop and cell phone.  He went to Gulfport MS for more training after A school and is now based in San Diego and is in a group called MSRON (Mezaron) 3 a mobile security unit and he loves it.

My boyfriend is graduating from bootcamp on 4/13 and heading to San Antonio for MA A School-- I've been trying to look up basic information about A School but haven't had any luck. I guess my most important question right now is, how long is A School? He heard 8-10 weeks...

Chris aka "chewtoy" stumbled onto the Bahrain kennel hunting something to do during downtime. He hung around, liking the people & the dogs. Then he got assigned Kennel Support & just got chosen for school after a recent, big, inspection. After 89 days of MWD school he'll be a MA K9 handler protecting people, things & bldgs. or detecting bombs or drugs on ships, in bldgs., docks & on bases.

Hi San Antonio MA's.  Very proud mom here.  Son in the AF, step-son is in Great Lakes as I type, left home this week.  Lots to learn here. So glad I found you.  Was in San Antonio last year for Af graduation.
