PeruvianMami is talking about PIR since her soon-to-be-Sailor will have PIR on Sept. 1 right before Labor Day weekend. Sometimes those having PIR on Thursday get an extra day with their Sailors, but there haven't been enough holiday weekends since the change for flying out happened in the spring to say how often it happens now.

my son flew out  same day he graduated  from MA school  and was home for 2 weeks before he left for his duty station they gave them  their tickets about a week before and he changed it so he could fly out that day  some of  his friends couldnt get flights out until the next day

There is no such thing as Grad-n-go any more. Your Sailor will most likely fly out the day after PIR, but sometimes that will change because of flight availability and your Sailor will know that at PIR--or sometimes a week or so before and can let you know.

Hi, All.  I haven't been on in awhile.  My daughter graduated A School on June 3 and came home the next day.  She is a Reservists.  I was told by N4M's about her sign on bonus and a form that was supposed to be signed before she left SA.  Well, they told her there was no form and it would be in her pay when she started Reserve duty.  She has met someone at Reserves who gradauted 6 months ago and he still hasn't seen his sign on bonus!  Anybody know how to track down this sign on bonus?  It was part of her contract and I saw it in writing.  They keep telling her it takes time, but over six months?  Anybody else getting a sign on bonus and know the procedure as to really see it in their pay?

Welcome SailorGal. Yes, there is a small graduation at the end of A School. Most, but not all, do have about 2 weeks of leave between A School and their PDS.
