vski - She is on the mend and called Sunday night.  She sounded much better and was going to be able to start classes again on Monday.  Only missed Friday, but did not march on Saturday.  I heard San Antonio is nice.  We would like to go to this graduation, too, but things aren't clear here with my husband's job.  We have to see what happens.  Thanks for your concern.

NavyMOMofOnly1Girl,
I am glad to hear she is getting better. I talked to my step daughter last night and your daughter is not her roomate but she knows who she is when I asked about the one who went to the hospital. They did march yesterday and according to my step daughter it was pretty cool. She said they were supposed to be putting pictures on the internet today and she was going to let me know where to look. San Antonio is a neat town. The River Walk is very popular. We are planning on attending the pining ceremony too. I hope your daughter is feeling better by Monday when they start their MA training.

vski - My daughter has strep throat.  She is on penicillin.  She called me today and said she's feeling a little better, doesn't have the chills any more or a fever.  She turned the air conditioning up so that it isn't so cold.  They had it set for like 65 degrees!  That is pretty cold, which probably didn't help.  She had a doctor's note to stay in her room today.  Her unit was supposed to march Saturday at an Alamo tribute, but doesn't think she can make it.  It is the 150th anniversary of the Alamo.  We'd like to go down to see her graduate and tour a little bit of San Antonio.  Another place we have never been to.  We liked Chicago, too.  Thanks for your concern.  I think she is on the mend.

NavyMomofOnly 1Girl,

So sorry to hear about your daughter.  I know my step daughter was sick for about the last 3 weeks of boot camp but did not want to go to the doctor to risk being put SIQ.  We were worried it might turn into walking pnemonia as well.  At least the weather is a lot nicer in SA!  I hope she gets well soon.

vski My 1 girl is in MA at SA with three other girls that were in her DIV 126 Ship 9 on the 4/8 PIR date.  So, I don't think it is your step daughter.  My daughter had a terrible cough when she called me on Monday.  I told her to go to the doctor, but she didn't want to miss classes.  Well, she finally went after class today.  They sent her to the ER on base for chest x-rays.  I have not heard her diagnosis yet.  Very bad sore throat and running nose.  Could be a sinus infection, bronchitis, walking pnemonia.  Haven't heard from her since.  Got the info from her boyfriend.  Maybe boot camp was too much.  She had a cold three times since she was at GL.  Hope she recovers soon and isn't hospitalized and really miss alot of classes.  She didn't want to miss a few hours.  Mothers never stop worrying, do we?

Just a reminder, please do not post any last names.  You can go back and use the little x next to the comment to delete the comment when you do.  It is important to get in the habit of considering OPSEC now so that you are in that habit when it becomes really important.

Just remember if they re-route their tickets they will be required to pay the difference in cost.

My son plans going directly to his duty station or possibly to spend a couple days with his sister, but she is only a couple hours drive from where he will be stationed. He doesn't want use his leave up because he wants to go to his cousins wedding in Norfolk with us in July and then he will be in his other cousins wedding in October.

He told me that they got the group that graduated last Friday out of there pretty fast.  He told me last night that he should be getting more info about leave in the next few days.

My son told me that they will be handed their orders and airline tickets right after graduation.  He said that the ticket will have to be re-routed though because the destination will be for their duty station.  He will have to re-route his ticket to Pittsburgh airport so I can pick him up there. I have no idea have difficult it will be to re-route or how long it will take.  I hate waiting to the last minute to make plans, especially Easter week-end when I am so busy with church performances.
