My son said they went to the riverwalk this weekend for liberty and when they exited Hard Rock Cafe there where a group of guys yelling to them baby killers. they did the right thing and ingnored them and kept walking. He said it was weird to here that.  I was a bit shocked by it. I told him it was probably some nut yelling and not to worry about it.

Anita,  We are prior military and have  USAA.  Check them out.  They are great.  We do our banking, insurance-car and life  etc.  My son has his on account.  Everything can be done on line, so if they move around alot it helps.

jennyd - one of my sailors left SA the day after grad to come home before his duty station and the other  who finished the following week did not get his orders until a week after his grad and then came home before his duty station, so it really all depends.  on another note, be prepared --- rerouting the plane ticket to come home before they go to their duty station usually doesnt happen until the day before they leave, and can be rather costly. it may be cheaper to get a new ticket. if so, try delta and ask for a military discount.they offer them on some of their flights, but not all.

kt My son was there for 3 weeks before he classed up he did a lot of racking leave at first then he said it went to racking dirt cause they already got all the leaves.  He would do office stuff they keep them busy with just about everything.  He was happy when he finial got to class up.  jenny d my son said OC was the worst thing too and was glad it was done. My son left for Hawaii the next day (Saturday) he stayed at a hotel so we would not have to get up as early that day.

jennyd - depends on where they're going and what their orders are ... my son is in the Reserves, and was able to leave with us right after graduation (Well, after he did all of his required stuff to process out - which took a couple of hours).  He had a ticket to fly home the day after graduation, but when he found out he could actually ride with us, he opted out of the flight - even though it would have been a shorter ride!  ;0)

My son arrived in SA Feb 22 and was supposed to start classes last Monday, but got strep and was SIQ for three or four days.  All this time, he has been sweeping, mopping, have watch and other busy stuff.  He anxious to get started, but he hasn't complained at all about the stuff he's had to do.  He's very happy down there.  I think he gets to start class this Monday,
