My son arrived at MA school this past Saturday 8/15/15. He said classes should start in about a week and a half. So far he is loving it!
mikmack, the new MA's will have to pick up their orders and their records before they leave.
If you have a Sailor currently in Lackland or recently graduated from "A" School, please check Break down week by week and see if there is anything that is not current. I added the paragraph about privately owned vehicles since that has come up several times recently and what I have included is based on information that was current about a year ago.
For those with a Sailor currently in "A" School or recently graduated, Has Phase III been reinstated? (See the info in Break down week by week and let me know if anything needs to be updated.)
Elizabeth, your then Sailor will have daytime Liberty for part of the weekend. If he has completed the requirements to Phase up to Phase I, then he will be able to spend some of that Liberty off base. Some are able to get their Phase I cards by the next weekend after arrival and some are not. If you and your daughter are going to go to San Antonio, it may be incentive to complete everything to get the Phase I card. Yes, Labor Day is a federal holiday, so there will be no classes that day.
OK thank you lemonelephant for the response on both groups :) ... I have a new question (well lots of them but for now just one hehe)
My SR PIR date is 8/28 .. a few days later is our daughters birthday. The following weekend is a 3-day weekend (Labor Day) -- is it crazy to consider flying out to San Antonio for my daughters birthday the first weekend after he arrives? Will they have completed INDOC at this point/ have weekend liberty? Also, is Labor Day considered Holiday routine? Thank you!!
Elizabeth, it is very unlikely for your Sailor to fly out on Sunday. That happened years ago, but not now. Now there are typically enough seats on Saturday flights between O'Hare and Midway.
Sorry I have posted this in another group, I am not sure which group is best to ask...
Have any of you experienced your Sailor flying out to A school on a Sunday? (departing Great Lakes after PIR) I am wondering how common this is for Sailors shipping out to San Antonio... Thanks!
Thank you so much lemonelephant that link was really helpful!
