good reason! ugh - there was a wife who went there quite often (Eric's wife) - she would know about housing. You might just read back pages (and pages) because she discussed going down there often.

He's unfortunately going to get his orders before he phases up. He just found that out today so I need to do it as soon as possible.

Matthew's wife, why not wait until he phases up and you two can have a "honeymoon" off base?

Thanks Proud Mom!

Ok ladies I have another question - I'm going to get officially married to my fiance, hopefully this weekend, while he's in A School at Lackland. Everyone has said that's the best way to do it so that I can be on his orders. Does anyone know what the lodging situation is on base? Can I stay on base and, if so, what is the cost? I know that I'll have no problem getting on base because I know one of the chaplains down there and he said he can get me on.

Also do you know what his weekend might be like in terms of busyness? He said he didn't think it would be too terribly busy. He's doing OC spray on Friday, but after that he said it'll be mostly studying for all the tests he has coming up. He's still in Phase I, but does anyone know what his free time might be like this weekend so that I know whether he'll have enough time for us to get married and get our paperwork taken care of?

mathheswife and jdmom~ have you joined a group called MAA Moms, there they have a video of the oc spray and what they have to do. Here is the link for that group:

Yeah hi jdmom! You actually sat two rows in front of me at PIR, but I never got a chance to introduce myself. I think I saw you at the airport yesterday morning too. :) My sailor's flight got cancelled as I'm sure yours probably did too, so he flew out this morning.

It sounds like they might be getting the OC spray this coming Friday, but I'm sure that's not set in stone. It sounds like we should be able to get the address as early as tomorrow. Did you send his cell phone with your sailor? I talked to mine on his cell today when he was at the airport, but he was all worried they would take it from him once he got to Lackland. I kind of doubt it...

Anyway, good to see you here!!

jdmom~if he has a way to call you when he gets there he can give you the information. OC spray is usually done in week one, but it does vary. You can check the discussion above the one titled break down week by weekIt kinda gives you a lil insight of what they will be doing week by week. He will also have a little more freedom at A school than at Great Lakes. I will be here in case you have any questions.....hope that helps you some...

Hello ladies, My son just starting MAA school. He arrived yesterday When do they do the oc spray and how long will it take for me to get the address
Comment by Proud Mom of a Sailor on July 25, 2010 at 7:24pm
Mathhewswife~my son is attending A school at Lackland and has been there for about 5 or 6 weeks. If you can send him some baby shampoo or c if he can get some it will help when he is OC sprayed. It helps take away the burn and reflashes, but other than that he will have more freedom compared to GL. Hope that helps...
