Hey, moms...if your sailor is in San Antonio this weekend, and has a free Sunday, there is a giant cleanup being organized to help the victims of the floods last week that tore into Central Texas. If they go, they'll meet some great folks, eat some good food, and help some needy people. We took older Scouts down to Goliad in 1998 to help out, those old folks were so grateful for the smiles and strong backs of our boys as they literally dug the mud out of the homes of these folks. Just a thought, but if you'd shoot the info to your kids, I'd be very grateful. I don't know if my son will be able to make it.

Thanks!!

My MA is about the only one I hear about going to A school in Virginia - and we are from TEXAS! ugh - how nice it would have been to have had him closer. Then, he is stationed in Virginia now!
Oh well, Virginia is beautiful!

Thank you Brenda Sue, I will have my whole family and we already rented a car but that is so generous. My Mom is having health issues so I don't know how all the timing will work. I'm not even sure if we can all get in. At BC a few of us had to come as guest of other SR's. How has the last two years been for your Son? I'm really missing my Son today does it get better?.

MVP Mom~ My son has been a MA for a little over two years. He has been on two deployments. He went to A school in Virginia instead of San Antonio. I went to his graduation. I would LOVE to go to a San Antonio one.
Do you need a ride from Houston to San Antonio? If you will help me get on base to see a ceremony here, I'll be glad to transport you from Houston to San Antonio.
I live about an hour and a half from either Houston airport. It is about three hours from Houston to San Antonio.

Is there anybody who has a Sailor graduating on July 2 besides me and teacher Mom out there? And thanks for those of you with info about how the graduation goes for us first timers. With so few days there and a ways from home I want to get it right. So far I had to fly in to Houston because I needed to fly Alaska.I really don't want to miss anything and somebody mentioned their Sailor graduated on Thursday. Thanks!

Mardee, the graduation from A school is NOT anything as impressive as PIR - but still worth the trip! My son graduated from MA - A school in Virginia - and I am from Texas - but I still went (and glad I did). There were only about 20 in his class and there were fewer parents there than that!
I think to go to graduation in San Antonio you have to have a pass from your son to get on base. Other than that - I am not sure. Since you are from Lake Charles, I bet you already know of things to do in San Antonio - Sea World, Fiesta, the Alamo, etc.

We need to meet one day. I LOVE O'Charlee's in Lake Charles!
