Hello everyone, my son started school today. He said there's about 30 in their class and 18 of them were chosen for PRP. I've read a lot of materials about it but would like to hear from anyone with sailors that are in the same program...He's my only child so I am extra nervous but very proud of him.

Nic's wife and Eric's wife, your husbands were in the same PIR group as my son's (03/05/2010). Nice to see you transition in this group as well.

June Bug - I'll NEVER get used to those roaches - I don't care what they are called or how harmless they are!! When I was a teenager I lived in an apartment that my room mate and I would fight over who went in first to turn on the lights (so they would scatter)!! We said that they had to fly in flight patterns!
Now, I pay Orkin before I eat - to have my house sprayed!! I can't even step on them - don't want to hear the "crunch"!!!

OH NO!!!!!!!!! I paid huge bucks to have someone sheet rock it for me. It is a friend who has three kids (two in high school - one valedictorian of her senior class this year) who lost his job. He did good work - but I did not bargain a price before hand. $650!!! But -- - he tore the old sheetrock and paneling out - rehung - taped and floated it all!! I just painted it and he came back and hung the crown molding and caulked it.

I re-sheetrocked and painted my bedroom!! FUN!!!!!!!!
Now, you see why I wanted an excuse to get away!!

Donnita, which base in Japan? I talk on FB all the time with kid over there!
Also, Molly's son is on the USS Blue Ridge - stationed in Japan.

How many are in a class together in San Antonio. Mine finished MA school in Virginia in a class of eleven.

June Bug...PRP is the Personnel Reliabilty Program. You can google this and learn more about it but basically it means they are qualified to guard nukes. Generally PRP's go to Bangor, Washington or King's Bay, Georgia. My son will be graduating on Friday (YIPEE!!) and was PRP qualified but there were no PRP billets for his class. It was really strange because he was ranked in the top 8 of the class but he still could not pick from all the billets available. PRP's were limited to certain billets. Worked out fine, my son got Norfolk which was were he wanted. Good luck to your son!

Well, mine loves it one minute and hates it the next. Donnita - can you say where your son is? Mine is with a MSRON. I wonder if they are together!!

Well, I deleted my first comment (OPSEC) - he should be stateside in a few months (May sometime??) - his older brother is getting married in June and we are hoping he gets to come to the wedding - since he is the best man!!
He will just take a 96 hour leave for that!
