Donna, I am probably going to sit tight until I hear from you!! It takes me four to five hours to get to Lackland (depending on Houston traffic and time going). Just let me know. I don't want to make the trip just for fun!! I want to (1) be able to help a kid get home and (2) attend a San Antonio MA pinning and (3) get away from home for the break!!! Priority in that order!

Yes, you can send his laptop if you want and also send baby shampoo. I'm not sure of the best way to send the laptop, but use the USPS flat rate boxes for anything you can and don't pay extra to overnight anything.

My husband just arrived in TX for a-school, he said I can send his phone asap, anyone know if I can send his laptop as well??

Those of you having kids getting pinned this Friday: Could you please PM me the first and last name of your kid. That way when I call the base I can have a list of names that I want to be stand-in Momma for!!

If they won't let me on, I will probably head over there Friday morning. I'll need to know what times anyone needs a ride anywhere. Donna, I would like to know what your daughter wants to do - stay on base - stay in San Antonio in a hotel (one room or two) - or go to Houston and get a room - or go to my house and stay until Saturday (I live in a boring city)!!

The Houston rodeo is going on (huge ordeal) but I don't know who is performing and if you can even get tickets this late.

haha - Lisa, I would love to - but right now it looks like I won't be able to get on base. Does you son need a ride anywhere afterward (like to an airport)? I am headed that way because one kid got a MUCH cheaper rate home from Houston than San Antonio.

Shelly, I deleted your post from my page because your son's last name was there! I don't think PM-ing it is safe either.

The ombudsman of my son's squadron (yes, MSRON squadron's have ombudsman's like a ship does) - told me she would not even say anything over the telephone!! I don't know if she is being overprotective or not. My son did say that I had to get off of N4M's or he could not tell me where he was. I told him I could NOT get off here - and he does still tell me - it is usually after the fact, though.

I am not in contact with his ombudsman because he has to recommend it. I did not know that there was such a thing until he was already deployed and he won't take the time or effort now to contact her. He thinks it is dumb that I want to know where he is and what he is doing. ugh - I can't wait until he has a kid leave home!! (I was going to say that I can't wait until he has a kid - but I SURE don't want that to happen anytime soon!!!)

OK - Folks - I AM headed to San Antonio for the Friday, March 12 pinning!
If you want pictures of your child, just let me know who he/she is!
(that is - if I can get on the base - seems that they have tightened security from reading their website)

I will also haul kids to the San Antonio airport. I am headed there to do for your kids what I would want someone to do for mine!!

If anyone wants references (to be sure I am not a serial killer) - I can send you to quite a few on here. Navy for Moms has been VERY GOOD to me in the past two years! I have personally met over 100 of these moms from all four corners of the United States!!

I have to be at IAH at 5 pm on Saturday (for a 7 pm flight) - anyone need to get there - let me know!!! I am ready, willing and headed that way!!!

Congratulations all around!!!

Do y'all know that they get a certificate when they pass OC spray?
Comment by Grasshopper on March 5, 2010 at 5:01pm
Jasmine...he'll do fine. My son didn't mention anything about guys not passing in his class. Philip's comment after OC spray was "OC Spray sucks". He did fine but was glad to get that over with. Your bf will be fine also.
