Keep me posted - I will still go help them fly out of Houston. My sister is taking her van on vacation - but we probably can fit it all in my car. I bet they would sit on the roof to get home at this point!!

PS - I am a safe driver. I don't speed (too much) and I have not gotten a ticket in years (well, except one that does not count). I am not saying anything about a wreck because I don't want to jinx myself!

Debra - Is Alex going to be stationed in Nebraska - I am confused???

Shelly, I really am NOT a wealth of knowledge - so much changes and differs from situation to situation. I can only tell you my past experience - and you take it for what it is worth!

Shelly, I seriously doubt that their leaves start until they actually leave!

My son had to stay at A school for six weeks after graduation (but that was in Virginia). I know they did not take all that time for "leave".

Not a problem!! I am excited to be able to do this! Please, just keep me posted. Donna has my cell number and you can call anytime after 2 (Texas time).
Friday around noon - CALL ANYTIME because I will be on SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it all gets worked out.

I honestly think every situation and every airline is different - at different on different days and different times - especially when you talk to different people~!!!

I sure would not want to pay for a flight to Guam!!

Virginia - all the bases there are within 30 - 60 miles of each other. Derek was in Virginia Beach, I went to a homecoming in Norfolk while I was there another time, he is (stationed - but overseas) now in Portsmouth - and I have friends who stayed at the Norfolk Navy Lodge but their sailor was in Newport News base. They are all relatively close! I just HATE the tunnels in Portsmouth area!!!

NOTHING at all like PIR!!!! Don't kick yourself for not going!!

I really don't mind going, if you three can coordinate flights so that I can make it for all of them!

It was a small ceremony - but mine was in Virginia Beach. That is another reason I don't mind going - I want to see what San Antonio's is like - so I can tell other moms!

I have driven to San Antonio (bought a vehicle) and home all in one day! I really don't mind. Like I said I am of that week (for spring break) and was looking for something to do! I am a single mom - with one son (25) at home who I would love to get away from! He is getting married this summer!

You might also check flights out of Austin.

San Antonio is not major airline hub. That is why it is so high.

Dallas is another one you might try - but they would probably have to take the Greyhound there. Dallas is about 4 or 5 hours north San Antonio.

I was not planning on it - my son has already been an MA for almost two years - gone on two deployments - and is gone right now!

but. . . . I can!!! I live about 5 hours from San Antonio - and two from Houston. (Houston is between me and San Antonio). I am off that week from work and was looking for something to do for fun! I think "picking up some sailors would be a blast"!!

Check into flights from Houston (both IAH and HOU) to where you want to go. Southwest flies from Hobby - and it usually pretty cheap. If everyone would arrange flight times so I could do this - I don't mind. I do have a small car (Mercury Sable) - but I might can borrow my sisters van. It is about an hour between Hobby (HOU) and Bush Intercontinental (IAH) if they need to fly out of both airports.

You need about two hours at IAH and at least an hour at Hobby (it is much smaller) - for security check in.

PM me - if you want my phone number! I don't mind anyone having it. I just don't post it here cause SOMEONE will gripe!

I got to go to my sons MA school graduation (and he went to Virginia). I would love to be able to go to a San Antonio one. Then, depending on flights out - we can go to Houston - back to my house (but really out of the way) - or just stay in San Antonio.
