David - so true!! My son got an assignment on an island. When he got there he said he would not mind if the remaining time in the Navy (3 years) he had to clean toilets - this deployment was worth it. Within two weeks - he HATED it!!

Also, don't count on those assignments until they board the plane to go - things change!!!

Nope, he was not going PCP - He is in FC now - but I don't remember what he wanted but could not get~!

Wow - screened out of the Navy or just a particular job? Another Texas mom's son could not take some job with the Navy because his dad was from Brazil or Portugal (or somewhere else).

Thanks, David!! I know another mom on here whose son did that in Washington! He did not like the base when he first got there - but I think he does now.
Is that something the sailor chooses to do - or does he get "volun-told" to do it?

I was told that my sailor has a security clearance worth several thousand to a potential employer! A great hiring thing. I am not sure - because no one ever called the house and asked questions like I've heard them ask of others.

Aw, good luck to your son, David =) I haven't heard from my hubby today---but we're really hoping we get WA since I'm driving from FLA to Maine---if we end up getting GA, i'll be a little ticked off LOL
