Do ya'll know if there's any way I can get on the same flight home as my MA? He doesn't have his flight info yet, but i'm trying to come up with a plan. We were thinking about getting one way tickets for me so it may be a little cheaper. I could get one now, and one later when I know his flight info so I can try to get on his fight. I don't know if there's an easier way, but if y'all can let me know how/if/when you did it, that would be great!
How exciting for you Holly Ma Mom - enjoy the moments and take notes on what to expect for graduation for those of us still waiting :) at Air force gateway does the room need to be in the sailors name and does the sailor have to be present when we check in? enjoy!!!
By the way, your Sailor is not allowed to go into your hotel room (on or off base)...at least, that has been the rule for my sons graduating class.
I'm at Lackland now for my sons graduation and wanted to let all the new Moms who are planning on coming out here for graduation know that if possible, try to book your room at the Air Force Gateway Inn because it's close to your Sailors room and lounge and visiting is much easier. There has apparently been a trend of not being allowed to transport your Sailor in your car and cabs cost about $40.
I thought it was strange also. He said that everyone he talked to that had family coming had the same stipulation. A couple of people on the FB page said they had the same issue when their sailor graduated.
Rental cars are not privately owned vehicles (POV). That is strange. Usually it is that the Sailors cannot drive, but they can ride in a family member's vehicle. Interesting.
I just got some interesting news...I will be going to A School graduation soon and while my son is approved to spend time with us, the stipulation is that he can not ride in a "pov" with us. I clarified that we can share a cab or a bus, but not my rental car...I don't know if this is a change for security or if someone did something wrong, but everyone he talked to so far has the same stipulation. Anyone have any creative ideas?
MamaDez, you should be able to spend time with him. See Break down week by week.
Hi all! My son's PIR will be 10/3. I have the opportunity to go to San Antonio at the end of October 25 & 26). I am thinking about extending my trip through the weekend. I was just wondering if any of you would know what the chances of spending time with my son would be?
