Hi Bubweena, my sons PIR was 1/31 and he is on the same schedule as your son. There is a week by week break down up above the comment box and I have used that and also gave it to my son right after PIR so he was prepared of what to expect.

Hello Moms, it seems forever since I have spoken on here. So glad BootCamp is over. My son' PIR WAS Jan 24th. He flew out to San Antonio the next day. He doesn't start until Feb 10th, with a graduation date of March 28th. Is there anything in San Antonio like Sarge's there during graduation weekend? Below Lemonelephant mentions INDOC, what is that? It says once they do this they can go off base. I lnow they have to "class up" what does that entail? His fiance is going down the last week of February. Then I am also confused as to when they are informed of where their duty station wl ne. My son said they get to chose. He said they send down so many billiots(spelling) and they chose from those. He said it goes by where they stand in the class. He said the married guys usually get first pick at US posts. Is this true? Wee have been planning a wedding since last year. He was told he would go to bootcamp in August, then changed to Oct then he finally went in December. I am freaking out because we have this beautiful wedding planned and I am just sure now that he won't be able to do it. He is pretty sure he will be going overseas according to recent history of assignments. I have missed talking with everyone. I am sure you guys haven't missed my postings that are like books. I will say PIR was wonderful, even if it was the coldest I have ever been. If any of yku remember I have anither son who is in the Army. He made it to S Korea. It is freezing over there as well. They went for a Ruck march this week and his water froze inside his camel back. I can't bieve they had them out there. He is in Infantry, he says Mom the enemy doesn't care if it is cold. That did not comforte.
Anyway any help is appreciated.

Hi again! Since my son wasn't home for Christmas this year I wanted to give him a NEX card to use when he gets to A school. Since Lackland is an Air Force base will he be able to use a NEX card there?

I have a question. My son arrived to A school last night. Are the three meals provided or do they pay for meals or do they make their own?

Hi everyone! My son is graduating 2/7 and I wanted to bring him a couple outfits to wear while at A school in San Antonio. Any suggestions about what I should give him? We are from PA and he has lots of hoodies and sweat pants but I'm not sure what would be comfortable for SanAntonio this time of year.

Christina, he'll know more once he is there.

Bubweena, he will be at a different command (either for additional training or his first duty station) by 3 May. He'll have to put in a Leave chit once he gets there and see what happens. Since he is wanting to take Leave in May, he will want to go straight to his first duty station (or additional training) and not take leave after "A" School graduation so he will have time built up.

I did just a bit ago. Figured out the answer is no. :(

So I'm guessing that's a no if he is holding waiting to class up?
