Calikay, I think Northern CA sounds lovely! My son is going to Japan!!! That is a very long way away, but a lovely area and he is very excited!!! We will go visit him in 2015.
iHeart, my son will graduate 12/6 from MA A school. He came out of boot camp an E3. He said their PFA and written test scores on the Pepper spray are averaged and then they pick orders from highest score to lowest. He found out his orders the day after he was pepper sprayed. That is pretty tough, but they all survive and going into this rate, it is good training for them. I think they all like to be challenged. He is enjoying A school and likes that they have a bit more time to themselves and more Liberty. The down time is good for them, but they do have a lot of studying to do. The school is 7 weeks total from the time they class up. That should give you an idea on graduation dates. They usually get 10 to 14 days leave after before they ship out to their first duty station.
iHeart my Sailor, Mine went to San Antonio on October 12th, and she found out about a couple of weeks ago she was going to Souda Bay, Greece. I haven't asked her where her ranking is in her class now, but I think she is up there and also came in as E2 aroc from bootcamp so I'm sure that helped. She said she was the only one that got that station, at first she was bummed about not knowing anyone else that was going. After about a week of checking in with other people, it seems there are friends she had from bootcamp that she knows that will be going that are not necessarily MAs so I'm really happy that she will have some familiar faces when she gets there. I also think another slot ended up opening up for Greece in her class that someone took. So you should find out shortly after Thanksgiving I would think, your recruit will call as they are usually anxious to let you know after they find out! Good luck, and hopefully he gets to go where he wants! OC spray is brutal I got the pictures, not pretty…very swollen, but she looked at it as a right of passage….I know they have lots of tests, and as long as they study a bit he should do fine. He might hit a rough spot with the change from bootcamp with missing family and stuff and all the changes and pressures of tests a couple of weeks in, also with the holiday coming up. Mine is in a good spot now mentally and has hit a stride with the tests and is well adjusted at this point. The more tests they pass the more confident they get. She is scheduled to graduate around 12/7 and is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to you and your son!!!
Hi iHeartmySailor, My sailor is a week ahead of yours his PIR was 11/1/13 - he was OC sprayed yesterday. He requested his first duty station too. They get to request in order of class rank (he is 5th in his class). I think he said his graduation date was January 10th (because of all the Holidays while he's at school. I hope this helps!
I sent my first box last Friday and he received it Monday. Yes, I used the free Priority boxes I requested.
He passed his first PRT test! :) Next week will be the OC spray....
Anyone know info on when they find out their orders & graduation?
He graduated PIR was 11/8/13
Thank you for any info.
