sglen, that's how things happen sometimes. Sailors have to be on duty even on holidays and your Sailor cannot go in the hole on leave and take more days of leave than he has accumulated to that point even though he will be able to do RAP duty if he chooses and get credit for 5 days of unchargeable leave once he gets to his new command. 10 days means that his leave is the 18th through the 27th and he probably has to report in on the 27th--the dates and times will be on his orders.
These may be dumb questions, how long is A school for the MA rating in San Antonio? Do they usually get liberty after? If so, for how long? What is the next step after A school? Usually a fleet or here in the states? Sorry, Im still trying to tackle being a boot camp mom, the A school thing is REAL new for me
Hello! Just had this message from a mom on facebook...please share with any San Antonio connections you might have or ask your kids to do so on social media:" The United States Army Institute for Surgical Research is currently treating a 22 y/o active duty IED blast/burn patient from Afghanistan. Because of the extensive burns and trauma injuries, he must receive B NEGATIVE blood. This blood type only makes up about 2% of the population, so it's critical that we locate potential blood donors and ask them to donate.
For each trip to surgery he will require 10-15 units of blood/blood products (40 - 50 units per week.) The Akeroyd Blood Donor Center, JBSA-Fort Sam Houston is asking all service members, family members, DOD civilians, or retirees with B NEGATIVE blood type to please contact the BDC at (210) 295-4655 or Mark Salcedo via email at mark.t.salcedo.civ@mail.mil
The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - noon for walk-ins."
Thank you!
Also is it true that If you want to stay at the on base hotel at Lackland, your sailor has to make the reservation and be present to check in?
