We went to A school graduation. It was nice! Did not get to spend much time with our sailor until after it was all over. He was on duty. We got our pass on base early and were able to go spend some time with him at there pool hall area. We went to Exchange without him. We spent the weekend in SA after graduation with sailor it was nice. And yes tell your sailor to pack and be ready to go ours was not. Our sailor was not able to change his tickets had to fly out of SA which made for a long couple of days for him 28 hours of flying to Guam! And we had bought a real nice digital camo bag at the NEX in Chicago. We brought it with us thank goodness because he needed it. He repacked it after leave and it went to Guam so we are going to need to buy another. Or he will and have it sent to us from MyNavyExchange online.

Thelma,

She was in a "holding" state until they had enough people to start the official training, which they refer to as class up.

NavyMomAFWife, "A" School graduation lasts about 30 minutes, but if you are able to go, do so, but don't feel bad if you are unable to go; most likely only a handful of loved ones will be present for the entre graduating class. Your Sailor will be able to choose the person to pin on his badge. There is info on it within Break down week by week and Graduation Info for Lackland AFB - Navy MA graduation;  Places to s....

Thelma, Class Up: to begin training at "A" School, "C" School, or other training; some Sailors may be in holding for a week or more waiting for others to arrive to have enough for a class or the Sailor may have to complete some prerequisite before being able to begin classes.

That term and others that may be new to you can be found in What does ??? mean?  (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology).

Amazonnannie, My son graduated 7/12 he flew out of O'hare. The bus dropped his group off at 3:30 am, his flight left at 4:28 pm. Granted the airport wasnt the most comfortable place but I got to see my son for 13 hours it was great.

He said OC spray was awful. I sent baby shampoo. And told him about the milk. But his chief or someone told him not to use it. Because he had shaved that morning and it would clog his pores with the oc spray and he could have a bad reaction. He was ok the next day.

Amazonannie- My son left the base at 1 am and flew out of O'Hara at 7:10 with about 15 other Sailors that were going there..

Thank you for the advice, I will tell me son.

Wish you and your sailor all the success also.

Amazonannie- Thanks for the advice. I will pass that along. He left from the base at 1230 am to Midway and his flight was at 630 or 645 am.
