SierrasMom, they have another Sailor do it or one of the personnel from the "A" School.

My daugher will graduate this Friday.  I am very proud of her but I wish I could be there for her graduation to "Pin" her.  :(  Who pins them if they don't have family there?  I live in NC and really can't afford to make the trip to TX.  She will be leaving for Bahrain in a few weeks.

Yes, your Sailor will choose the person to pin his/her rating badge on.  Be sure to check out the discussions above for more info on what happens at "A" School and graduation.

My son is set to graduate from MA school on Jan 25th and I was told that he could have anyone pin him at the ceremony.    Does anyone know if this is true?

The holidays are over and my SR is back on base.  School starts on Monday for him I hope.  His PIR was Nov 21 and has been in holding.

Looking forward to the next several weeks to hear how the new cirriculum is going

Good luck to all of your sailors this year.

"A" School is 7 weeks, but some will be at Lackland a week or so waiting to class up, so the average time there is 9 weeks. Be sure to check out Break down week by week.

LoriK he will PIR 2/1  I am glad you now will be able to be able to talk a little more with your son, I cant wait for that.  I was hoping they would let the boys come home then flyout there if their schooling does not start right away. How many weeks is A school do you know. At work vacation days are filling up fast and my husband has to get dates on the calendar.  I know we cant schedule anything until he is on way to know when his date of schooling will begin. I am very excited for him and just cant wait for this bc to be over.
