Congratulations to your daughter, monkeyfoot! My SR is in boot camp right now, but she is hoping to do exactly what your daughter is doing. "A" school in San Antonio, then MA, and overseas.
LoriK, tell your son to do his best on the tests because when the billets are offered, the higher his scores are, the better his chances of getting a good billet--of course your idea and his idea of what is "good" may not be the same. The billets offered are all based on the needs of the Navy and even if they tell them at the beginning of "A" School what might be offered, those could change by the time they actually get to choose.
Thanks lemonelephant. I can only hope he takes the 1 month and comes home but it is his choice after all.
SailorB-Man, your Sailor will have 1 month of leave a year and he may choose to come home for some or all of that or save it up or use it in another way. In the meantime, fB and Skype will be your friend.
My Sailor will be graduating A school this weekend then home in two more weeks for some holiday and family time. Unfortuantely for me he will then be deployed out of the US for three years. I can't go three years without seeing him so hopefully we can find a destination to see each other.
If you choose to share names, do so in a PM. Your Sailors will know each other by last names and it is best to share those in a PM rather than openly on the site since that is not allowed on this site.
