Liberty and Leave are 2 different things. Leave is like vacation and Liberty is time when your Saiilor is not on duty (like when you are off of work in the evenings after working all day and are off on a weekend). He can come home during the Christmas stand down or after "A" School is over, but not before unless you live within the Liberty limit and he is able to go home when he phases up and is able to have weekend Liberty.
Our sailor's PIR was NOV 21 and will be arriving some time today at "A" school. Looking forward to mailing his box and hoping to hear from him more often then we did from BC. Graduation ceremony was terrific and glad we were able to attend at the last minute. We forgot to bring our youngest son's ID with us, but all worked out.
School starts Dec 03, so he has plenty of time to look around. Not sure how liberty works at this point. Any ideas ?? He doesn't wait to come home for Christmas or New Year's, he thinks he will be able to come home sooner. Not sure about that. Is that true if he chooses not to use liberties during holiday ??
LaceyJaeC, I don't think that is an option since "A" School is just 7 weeks. You would have to pay for the move. Save your money and the packing for when he gets his orders.
Hey! Another question! My husband called (yay!) and says he wants me to go with him to A school and live off base. Would it even be worth it though? Would he even have spare time to see me?
Sierrasmom - Sorry to hear about your daughter getting sent back a week. I hope she will be home for Christmas at least?
My boy text me last night and said the school was invited to a restaurant in San Antonio for Thanksgiving dinner so that's where they will be headed. He's having a good time learning and using all the weapons. He and some other sailors from his division got to go to Riverwalk last weekend to do some shopping. I don't think he's going to miss us on Thanksgiving at all with the good experience he's having there.
Heather, I will let my Daughter know about Thanksgiving!! Thanks!
Well my daughter finally started class yesterday. Wasn't too long of a wait, just a little over a week. I haven't heard how she likes it. She's been sick and she says because this is a short week they are having to muster at 5:15 and don't get out of class till 1800, so she's really tired. But at least she's in a class now which means it's that much closer to graduation.
