Hello Sierrasmom,

My son arrived Sunday, and yes he's waiting also for the group to get bigger, he said that hopefully this weekend most of the group will be complete.  He's anxious for this training to start already.  Well, I am here for you and the others; this is also a new experience for me so, great, we will share it together.

My son is one wk ahead of you so maybe I can help with a week by week. He did lots of paper work the first week and he went shopping around the base with some shipmates on Saturday. It is a huge base so they have to take a bus to get to places. Today they got them up at 5 am for a run. We think they do the OC spray this week also. There are two other MA groups on here, New MA Moms and MA Moms.

I am new to this group.  My daughter just went through PIR in Great Lakes and just arrived in TX on Saturday.  She said she is in holding until they get a big enough class to start.  Anyone else out there with someone getting ready to go through this class.  This site was very helpful for bootcamp and I was hoping to find another group!!  :)

If you are able to go to the graduation, then do, but if not, don't feel bad about it.  Your new MA will most likely be home right afterwards for around 10 days of leave.

Those at Lackland for Thanksgiving might get adopted by a family in the area or a local organization or the Sailors will get together and have a nice meal.  My Sailor was there 4 years ago for Thanksgiving.  It all depends on where they are in the Liberty phases on how much freedom they have to leave base for the day.

I second your thought MyAngel94 (ship 14 Div 317). I only have enough vacation time left to spend some time with my Sailor when he comes back in Dec. I don't want to use it for his A school graduation and then have him all alone at home. I have read that A school graduation usn't as big a deal as PIR. Anyonw been there and done that ?
