MOMOFTOM, Hopefully, the new Sailors will conduct themselves in a way that will make you and the US Navy proud. BTW, rate is the same as rank (E-1, E-2, or E-3); rating is the same as job, in this case MA (it has not been MAA since early in 2002 or before).
Lookout San Antonio, a whole new set of Sailors is coming to town!!!
Hi there! PIR is almost here, and thought I'd re-introduce myself! I'm Becky, MomofTom. We're from New Hampshire. Our SR (Sailor in just a few more days!) is going to SA under the Rate of MAA. Any like minded moms out there? Loving this ride so far, and so very proud of our son, and all of the sons of the moms I have met thusfar!
Hello, just visiting since PIR is so close. Already found wonderful information and will soon be over with lots of questions. :)
Check the discussions above.
My son was initially going to Pensacola, but he had to reclassify and is now going to Lackland for MA. The Pensacola page had lots about what they could and couldn't have with them, their phases, what was around them. Is there such information on this site, that we can access without going back thru every post? Thanks for any help given!
lemonelephant, hi. Can you point me towards the file with the day by day of A school? Have LOVED the day by day of BC! It's really eased my mind.
I wasn't able to go to my Sailor's A School graduation, but if your family is able to, then do. The ceremony is about 30 minutes long and your Sailor can choose the person to pin on his badge. It is a very simple ceremony.
I recently went to my Sailor's C School graduation (and frocking as MA2) and he said it was very much like his A School graduation and also lasted around 30 minutes. They were very nice and slowed things down so that I could get pictures and I have heard that they will do that at the A School graduation as well. There were 5 family members present for that graduation--me and 4 wives or girlfriends of the other service members.
Your Sailor most likely will have leave right after A School graduation, so you need to determine what is best for your situation. Another mom took pictures and shared them with me and we usually have someone who is able to do that for most graduations.
Thank you lemonelephant. I like learning about the training my son is going to experience. I am not a member of face book and this Navy for moms website has been a big help to me! How big of a deal is the graduation ceremony? Is it something family should go to if they can?
