My son didn't mention staying any longer   he only gets to come home a week because he was home after boot camp. He wants to get out of there as soon as he can!

Misschloe I pray you are right but will not get my hopes too high....I would drive my husband crazy!

My daughter is graduating this Friday and she didn't mention anything about staying another week as a volunteer.  I know they had different people helping with role playing in their various scenerios but she didn't mention people staying around to help that had already graduated.  Maybe she is surprising you.

hollyP, I have a daughter graduating this Friday from A school, but my daughter said they were short on staff and needed volunteers to stay another week. Has anyone else heard that?  That would mean she was finished on the 15th and able to come home for two weeks before leaving for her station.  Secretly, I hope its all a lie and she is surprising me and coming home this weekend....I can wish can't I?

At Lackland, there was no theft. It was a good school

If it's any consolation, Chris has been there twice with no problems either time.

Like Chris, my Sailor has a room by himself for C School.  It is actually in the Gateway Inn.

I haven't heard of much theft at Lackland, mostly because they either have one roommate or are by themselves in a room.  It does happen at other A Schools and on the ships.

Don't know about safe keeping personal stuff. Chris had a room to himself for A & C school. Sort of a basic hotel arrangement. He liked the A school room, but he & fellow classmates panned the rooms & cleaning crews for the one at C school. The lodgings & services are usually nice at an AFB, so Chris was surprised this time. Says the chow's good too.

Everyone we encountered on base were helpful & considerate. Off base too. We ended up replacing both front brakes on our van the day before graduation. We got treated well in a tough situation. Like the kids say, "It's all good."
