My MA loved his A School training. Challenging. OC spray wasn't much fun. He loved the simulations & live training. However, it all taught him a lot about himself & classmates. He's in C School for K9 Handler. Loving it, too. He's made some good friends in boot, A & C schools.

ML, you are so welcome.  I agree that the Financial class is very much needed.

lemonelephant,  Thank you for the warm welcome.  My daughter arrived in San Antonio last Saturday.  She loves it so far.  Her A School classes don't officially start until this coming Monday.  But, they have been in different  administrative type classes, such as Financial responsibility.  I think it's a great idea to provide these kind of classes.  I know that this is my daughter's first real job and I know it would benefit her.  I am so glad for this website.  It helps to know that we can get first-hand information on this site.

my son heads to San Antonio this friday (4/20)  from Pensacola. I hope classes get started soon. He was waiting in Pensacola for 2 months to start AE and then decided to change!  I think this is what he really wanted all along but was sorta pressured into making a decision when he went to sign up and took what they had to offer at the time.

Hello - I am new to this group and look forward to meeting you as we go through the next several weeks.  I recognize a few names here from the PIR group of 4/13 - hello again.

Tias Mom. A School is 7 weeks (see Break down week by week above).  Some Sailors will have to wait a week or two to class up, while others will start the Monday after arriving at Lackland AFB; few wait more than 2 weeks.  Some Sailors in other ratings have a wait of several months sometimes.  C School is advanced training that the MA needs to fulfill a specific responsibility.  Most Sailors in the MA rating will not go to another school after A School although they will receive various trainings as they go through their careers.  I am aware of C Schools for Afloat Corrections Specialist and Military Working Dog (MWD), but there may be others.

Hello everyone , thanks for the invite. I have a question, how long is A school in SA? Some people say 7 weeks some say 9 and others say it could be 1-2 months before they start classes? Thanks for all the information. This really helps.
