Good luck Irene!

Thanks chriscwick, it does feel good to finally have a location locked down to call "home" while I'm there. Now it's just a waiting game, I'm getting so antsy!

How awesome! Bet it feels wonderful,

My MA MWD Handler will be out Aiugust, mid month. He's both excited & apprehensive. All he knows is the Sands of Bahrain! A new command is going to be an adventure!

Hi forevermom, if there is any way you can postpone your trip until August I would suggest that. With Comic-Con in town in July airfare, hotels, and other touristy things all raise their prices & are going to be much more expensive. Comic-Con is July 17-21.... If you visit before or after those dates you'll probably find a bit cheaper fares. The hotel I work for though raises prices the entire month...we run about $200 over our usual rates for the whole month of July because demand is so high.

Hi forevermom ~~

"Its called the Navy lodge or the Gateway depending on what base you go to. They are very nice on Naval base Point Loma for $70 a night. I went to the ones on the mine warfare base/NMOC/ASW... people call it all kinds of stuff. They didnt seem as nice and the specific room I saw didn't have a/c AND didn't have a screen in the window so if you opened it for air it was just a hole in the wall. Just have her son check out the rooms first. They are on base and depending on where you are she may or may not have access in and out of the base without her son."

Seems you rec'd a lot of GREAT infor!  Yea Navy4Moms!  Good luck & have a wonderful visit...  :p

Also keep in mind Comic-Con is in San Diego in mid-July. That causes compression throughout the city, not just downtown, and drives rates up so you'll want to try and plan your trip around that if at all possible. Also causes a price & crowd increase in plane tickets and everything touristy from parking to attractions.
