Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) and change the Privacy Settings for this page from "Anyone" to "Members."

There may be other changes you need to make as well change 4???, so read and consider each of the changes.

Yeah I was thinking about that too!  LOL.  I will definately let everyone know what he has to say.  He was a captain of his wrestling team for 3 years and has always been a leader so he might be getting frustrated with the demerits because it probably is out of his control.

So sorry to hear about your first letter experience, little leary now because my son is in the same division.  Three pages, wow, I think my son would get writers cramp if he tried to write that much.  LOL.  Hang in there, at least you know your not going through it alone.  I don't get home until about 6:00 so I will not even know if I have a letter or not.

LOL - yes, you probably will need a rental.  I know that Milwaukee is about 45 minutes from Great Lakes, not sure about Midway or O'Hare.  You may be able to cab from there.  All you have to do is call the Navy Lodge (847-689-1485) and tell them you want to reserve a room for boot camp grad on 11/23.  They will take all your info and since you aren't military they will make the reservation under your son's name - he will be your sponsor.  You just need him to come in and verify that you are together sometime during your stay.  Come on over to the PIR group discussion - besides us mom's who are all new to this there are a bunch of veteran moms who have great insight into the whole process.  Call them soon though - my guess is that they fill up fast.

That is awesome that they swore in together and flew out together.  I'll have to let Brandon know.  I almost missed his swearing in because he thought I was only coming down if he called me to let me know what time it was going to be.  I told him I was coming regardless and I was there waiting.  I finally asked and they rushed me back to the room as they were in the middle of the ceremony.

I do work - at an engineering company in Mission Valley - I'm a secretary.  I just have to request the time off so that won't be a problem.

LOL - no worries.  One of the moms in the PIR group got a great deal for flight, room and car through Orbitz I think.  I couldn't make it give me good prices but it may be due to when I could leave and the fact that I didn't want alot of stops.  I will either be only me or me and the baby.  Brandon's dad and are are divorced and he lives in Japan with his current wife and their boys.  He is retired Navy - anyway he is trying to come out but will do his own travel arrangements.  I'm not taking him into account right now mainly because he just doesn't know if he'll be able to get here.  We have been talking in the PIR group about doing a big Thanksgiving dinner somewhere with us and our kids and any other families from PIR and especially any other SRs who don't have anywhere to go.  We haven't formalized anything but are talking about it.  I had initially made reservations at the Residence Inn which seems really nice but then changed over to stay at the Navy Lodge - which is nice (not fancy) but much more affordable ($65/night with no taxes).  I haven't gotten any letters past the form letter - I'm hoping to see one real soon.  I haven't heard from him since the I'm Here call and then the note on the form letter.  He sounded good each time and I know that no news is good news but I'd still love to hear from him.  He swore in on the 28th of September.  I went to the swearing in and there was one or two other moms there.  That would be cool if they did.

I AM in SD!!  I've met another friend on here that is close by - 760 area code, about 45 minutes north of here I think.  I think it's kinda cool to have people in the same area going through this at the same time.  It's actually my son who is at Great Lakes - I'm Jenn, his name starts with a B - I can see how that would be confusing.  My name actually had his name included in it when I first started here but then when he finally left I made myself a little more general.  Anyway - I'm flying out of here on  Southwest on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and then coming home on Friday.  I'm not sure when my son will leave for A school, but the flights back home on Saturday were really expensive and had a couple stops and I will more than likely be flying with my infant daughter so I wanted to try and get as few stops as possible.  Are you a member of the PIR group?  The group is not huge but there are 5 or 6 of us that have been chatting pretty regularly about travel plans and where we are staying and about possibly doing a big Thanksgiving dinner together.  You should check it out.  I can't attach the link here (not computer savvy enough), but it's the group for PIR 11/23/2011.
