Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

The Ten OPSEC and COMSEC Points:

Don't discuss future destinations or ports of call!
Don't discuss future operations or missions!
Don't discuss dates and times of when we will be in port or conducting exercises!
Don't discuss readiness issues and numbers!
Don't discuss specific training equipment!
Don't discuss people's names and billets in conjunction with operations!
Don't speculate about future operations!
Don't spread rumors about operations!
Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!

Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

She is now part of the 3. She says that it is now a huge. as most are since the 40 was spread around. I just told Kayla I wish she were able to go. it would be nice to have her on the same side of the country.

Kay told us they were going. wish she were going also. would be a nice drive at some point to see her. Our Bee's are doing a great thing for this. country. we should be as proud as can be.

My EO is anxious to finish and get out of Ft. Lost in the Woods and back home to Southern California. Does anyone know if they will fly him back to the same place he flew out of? As a reserve, when will he be expected to report for his weekend at PH? He will return to college in mid-January and will need to find a place to live before then. Does anyone have a sailor in the PH area who is renting/looking for a roommate? Can't wait to have him home and see his tattoo in person!

Mama bear-glad your daughter is striving for bigger things! I'm sure she will do great!!

Joanie-congratulations to your son! I can imagine it has been nice having him so close. Hopefully his next duty station is equally as close!

Things for my Bee are going well. He's in charge of two projects taking place and has gained respect from all his crew. He was really nervous to be in the position at first; but he values everyone and I think that is clear to the people around him. I'm so proud of everything he is accomplishing. He's busy and time is flying for him. I'm doing pretty well at keeping busy myself, and I can't wait for his return!

Tyler re-enlisted yesterday....In for 5 more years...don't know where his next orders will be since he's a GM (fleet rate)...but we sure have enjoyed having him in Gulfport with NMCB 133...just 2 1/2 hours from home...

Hi everyone, Just checking and seeing how everyone is doing these days.  We are fine my daughter is back in the USA at her home base.  She has been studying alot she would like to rank up.  And she is also studying for a crane operator position.  She amazes me the things she is trying now days, when she was in high school she didn't want to do anything she only did the amount she could to just get by.

Update from Battalion 133:

Runnin’ Roos Family, Friends and Fans,
Our mettle and conviction of purpose has been tested.  Two of our teammates were in a vehicle that set off an improvised explosive device.  Both are going to be fine.  One teammate is heading stateside and the other will likely remain deployed.  The depth of commitment to our common oath, individual talent, team training and equipment today made an indelible difference.  Everyone performed superbly.  Thank you for your continued support that enables our focusing completely on the tasks at hand.  The Roos are at full stride, and your Seabee is making a positive difference.   V/R,  CO Let's cover them in prayer please!

SeabeeWife20: I would love to send Tyler a Birthday Cake in a Jar for his 22nd Birthday in December.  Could you message me the recipe please?

Tyler will also be gone for Thanksgiving, Christmas and his birthday this year...first year he won't be anywhere near for those times...I'm sure they'll have a great holiday dinner at some point for those holidays...So cannot wait for homecoming!

Gail, most of the time they encourage them to go home for the holidays if they have available leave. The less people in the barracks, the less they have to worry about them. There are some people who choose to save their leave though and stay. It's all going to depend on her filling out a chit and the chit getting approved. Tell her to ask once she arrives.

As for me, this is the first time in 7 years that my hubby and I haven't spent the holidays together. We were very lucky that he came home just in time for Thanksgiving last year, but we miss everything this year. I am not so much worried about myself as I am him. I get to spend time with family and occupy my mind. He on the other hand will be alone....even if he has his brother's and sister's around it's just not the same. Not to mention being deployed to Afghanistan just makes it that much worse. I am trying to find a way to ship him homemade food in mason jars without it going bad. I want him to have a good Thanksgiving dinner and a good Christmas dinner. I sent him a birthday box with his favorite cake in a jar and he loved it. It's funny the things they miss while they are gone. I was outside talking to him one day and he heard the birds chirping through the phone. He was amazed at the sound and couldn't believe how long it had been since he'd heard birds chirp. We really have no clue what it's like for them over there. I try to send as much of home as I can to him so he can feel a little normal.

Kym, you are so right....I have no idea what moms and wives did before technology advanced. They are my heroes, because they were so strong!

Gail - I was wondering the same thing about Christmas. My son will be arriving in Gulfport for A school right after Thanksgiving. Since I will be missing him for Thanksgiving and his ever important 18th birthday, I was hoping to spend some time with him around the Christmas holiday.
