While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!
Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

Hi catsandkoi, He is a BU and will start classes next week. He's excited for the next step. Boot camp was pretty true to the 'making of a Sailor' series they are airing - he shared a few funny stories but said that camp is mostly a stress test! If your recruit is in shape when he arrived at BC he'll do fine.

Good morning, everyone! Our son is a Seabee who deployed to Africa. The first week, he messaged us with his address. He told us it may take 4-6 weeks for him to receive packages. Immediately, I put together a "care" package to send him. Two days later, he informed us that his address had changed. Ugh! Has anyone else encountered this situation? Do you know if the package will be forwarded to him or if it will be returned to sender?

Well...my son finished BC and is now at Gulf Port for A School. He said on Sunday.."A School is great so far"!

Hi Mafe777. The Wichita base is an Air Force base. I believe it only has 2 "A schools" for the Seabees. So very few sailors there. Our son said the base and town were kind of quiet, not a lot to do. Which is good, as the sailors are under alot of pressure to mind their P's & Q's.

Just want to give a shout out for the Seabee Museum in Port Hueneme, CA. If you happen to be in California or are visiting your sailor this is a definite must see! We took a trip up to it from our home town before my son shipped. He is going in as BU but still at BC - PIR 8/17. We spent several hours at the Museum. Very easy to spend a couple hours there.
