For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Don't assume the enemy is not trying to collect information on you so he can kill you, he is!
Be smart, use your head, and always think OPSEC and COMSEC when using email or phone!
Rules of thumb for parents and loved ones:
*If your sailor indicates to you they can't tell you something, believe them. Don't try to coax them into telling.
*If it is published by the navy about where a ship or unit has been (not going), that is when it's okay to share.
*If your sailor is in a high security area, say a nuke or EOD, consider using a nick name for them and you, a seperate email without your name on it, and don't even tell where YOU live. Let them tell you what they want you to tell others or if they are worried about info, always let them know you are on here. That's why they are careful on here about only putting first names on your profile page.
*Be aware, the OPSEC 10 points are about what they can't talk about. Think about what YOU might share as a parent or loved one of a military member that could cause trouble. You also have a responsibilty.
*Be respectful and teach other parents if they don't know and say too much, no need to be disrespectful or mean to them about it. Just guide them and let them know they maybe need to rewrite or delete the post. There isn't a member on here that wants to cause trouble or harm. They just aren't thinking or don't know.

Great information Julie. I will have to see if I can find those FB pages. Will he do C School in Gulfport, do you know. Did your son just stay in Gulfport, is that considered his battalion? I would like my grandson to stay there cause he would be closer to us then. Lol

Yes my son is still in Gulfport and has been in for 4 years and 2 deployments already. Your grandson will also go to C school after A school. There is a graduation after A school but it is not something that many family attends. They usually post pictures on Facebook. He will be assigned to a battalion too. My son is also a BU. each battalion has a Facebook page and the Gulfport base has a page and Seabees has a page too. My son does not like to chat about details so the Facebook pages are great . There is also a Seabee courier enewletter that comes out weekly too. Yes you should use the sworn in date from when he left for BC according to my son since that is the day the oath is taken unless you want to use the A school graduation date since they get a certificate at that time. We have been visiting every year and it is always fun

Thanks Julie for the quick response. So I use the date he was sworn in right before he headed to bootcamp. That's good cause then I can go ahead and order. Again thanks so much. Was your son in Mississippi? I don't know where he will go next. He is going to be a BU. That's about all I know. I am just so happy that now I can communicate with him because I sure missed that when he was in BC. Have a great time with your son.

Hi I am visiting with my Seabee son as we speak and he said that there is no Seabee oath and you should use the date that he was sworn into the Navy! Hope that this is helpful

My grandson is in Mississippi to begin his A School this month to be a Seabee. I have found a Seabee shirt I would like to order him and it has a place for me to insert the date he took the Seabee oath. Is this is enlistment date or do they take another oath after he graduates A School. Just want to be sure I insert the correct date. Thanks to all of you for all the help in helping me understand.

Thanks deniseMatt'smom. Will do. It may take awhile, though. I might have to contact some .gov site. Who knows? BTW, thanks to all the sons and daughters (and their parents) who continue to serve our country, especially in the Seabees.

Hello, I just joined Seabee Moms, however I am not a mom of a Seabee. I am a veteran Seabee who had a son while in the Seabees. To my knowledge, I was the first woman Engineering Aide in the Seabees. I am trying to find out if my son was the first child born to a woman in the Seabees. He was born in 1978. Does anyone know how to find this out? I know, I know, silly request, but important to me!

Inw0nderland... I love San Diego, too. When you have an opportunity to visit while he's there, you guys should check out SeaWorld as they give our military members a complimentary admission once per year (http://seaworldparks.com/seaworld-sandiego/waves-of-honor/active/). There's also the many wonderful beaches (La Jolla Cove/Shores, Oceanside, Solana Beach, Torrey Pines, are a few of my favorites), Seaport Village, and the Wild Animal Park a few miles north... all great places to see and visit. ;o)

@sherrys No he isn't there yet. He is still in A school. He graduates May 11. But after he graduates A school he is doing FMTB training which is like 2 mos long in San Diego. And then he will be in Port Hueneme. Like around late September of this year.
