Lorraine- spend a lot of time in Chicago. If you are going downtown, I like Hugos frog bar and Gibson's steak house.
I agree with Andria- public transportation is the way to go! Even the bus isn't bad. Michigan Ave. and State Street are fun if you want to shop. On Michigan there is an Apple store, Nike town, Burbury, Crate and Barrel, Nordstrom's mall, Hershey store, the Fashion Mall, and of course, Tiffany's :)...but if you want less expensive, try State street. There is a rainforest cafe, hard rock cafe, webber grill, Lawrey's, Uno's everywhere.
Don't forget Navy pier. There is a bubba gumps, imax theatre, children's museum, and it is just neat to walk outside to the end of the pier.
bsmom, that doesn't sound like fun weather!! Like we say down here- You can't shovel sunshine!!! My recruit has always said he wanted to live further up north. Let's see if he still feels the same way!
I won't be making it to Meet&Greet. Our flight doesn't get in until 10:20 pm. Then we have to rent the car, & get to a friends house (40 min from GL) where we are staying. We're going to be tired in the morning!!
AND IT'S GETTING CLOSER!!!! Can't wait!!
bsmom
Stay safe. We in NJ will get the tail end. Snow and ice. Maybe no Kindergarten tomorrow!!!!
Hope our recruits are bundled up the next couple of days!! I live about 3 hours {traffic) away and we are getting blizzard. GL is calling for blizzard, shore flooding, up to 60mph winds and 25 foot waves!!!
Andia- Since you are a repeat Navy Mom- I have a question for you. I have been reading reviews of restaurants in the Waukegan area.
Seems the restaurant where we are staying at the Ramada ( Saddle Ridge Reastarant) has great reviews for their food. Anastasia's did not get good reviews.
Great Pizza etc seems to be the Quonset Pizza. Giordanos got good reviews. Here is my question Andria- What do you reccomend? My son wants alone time with his wife. We might be heading to Chicago without him.
Also if you are a member of Costco we rented an suv and got a fabulos price. Just entered Costco's code. Cheaper than my teacher discount through NJEA.
Hi ladies.
We are staying at the Ramada and we will be going to the Meet and Greet.
Hope to see you all there. I will be wearing a red scarf. No pink one.
tchmom- Hope you are feeling better. I am a Kindergarten teacher here in NJ with 44 Kindergarten students in two sessions. I want to stay healthy so I can hug my son. Lots of sick kinders.
