Welcome Lorraine & emptynestnow! We are from West Palm Beach, Florida. My son is our oldest of 3 boys, and the first to leave home. He is gone almost 4 weeks, and doesn't seem to be getting easier. Went CRAZY waiting for the first letter, now seem to be living for Wednesdays (the day we got mail last week). We are looking forward to PIR!

Seems like a lot of graduates. Lots of ships and many divisions. How many are in a division? We will be saying at the Ramada, Meet and Greet there for PIR 2/18

I miss my son very much; if I had any reservations about his choice I just don't think that I could do this.  I am so proud of him, but can't wait for boot camp to finish!  Christmas was horrible here- I felt sorry for my daughter, and really tried to focus on her and not the missing son.

Hi! My son is Ship 3 Div 82.  I am from Michigan, my son is 18 and we became emptynesters when he left for bootcamp.  I had so hoped for a call on Christmas, too.  Letters help alot!  I am so thankful for this site!  We are going to the Residence Inn for PIR.

My son is in div. 082. It's so nice to have other moms to connect with.

I see we are up to 6 members! Welcome Lorraine! Is it your son or daughter who is a recruit in div 082?

Also note: I had also sent a copy of his favorite football teams article in the newspaper and it was taken because it is "news" and they are not allowed to receive any "news"  from the outside world.  Won't be doing that again because i don't want him to get into any kind of trouble or have to do any pt because of me!!

My recruit also mentioned that on the 24th he had received 4 letters from me...I began sending them daily on 12-18.  He said it was killing him that he is receiving all these letters from me and unable to send his out yet.  He said that Sundays are the day that they are given liberty to write home...so depending on where you live, they go out on Sundays.  Mine got here the following Wednesday and I live in North central Indiana.
