Hello.  My son is also on ship04 division 812.  I am hoping to get a letter today.  Usually they come on Thursday.  I am so glad to hear they are doing so well as a division.

Hi y'all;-) I LOVE Wednesdays!!! Lots of good news....They are now down to 71 (not so good), but they are in the running for hall of fame! If they do well on the next test and a few inspections they are sitting well "for a while" is what he said. They have gone from having the "three toughest RDC's" to the "three best RDC's"...they are really pulling together as a team and counting the days to PIR, which means there's a light at the end! Oh, and btw the RDC's are looking on here...I feel a little paranoid now. :-0 Almost there!!!
He also said he's grad and go. How can that be when all he has to do is move across the street to pre-BUDs? Anybody know?

Welcome, TampaBayMom! We've all been hearing similar things- they are tired, sick and working very hard. My last letter sounded a little better than the previous one and the phone call, but it's still tough! Good preparation for what lies ahead I suppose...

Hi all! Received a second letter yesterday. He said most guys were sick since they are 84 in small quarters, so colds spread fast. Lack of sleep didn't help any. Making his bed perfect and folding clothes is not his specialty, but he passes. After driving them hard every day he says they must care a little about them because they get pretty good food :-)

Yep yep--got a (short) letter from our son today, too. Same thing--doing a little better. Still looking forward to the end. He was with my husband and me when we went to one of his older brother's PIR in December, 2008. I'm sure that helps him think about the end of the tunnel....

Hi...got a letter today, my heart feels 10 times lighter! He is working hard and tired but not downtrodden, like before. Actually used the words "good" and "fun"! They have lost nearly 20 recruits now and are down to 85. Hope you all hear something this week!!

Hi all - Finally got a phone call yesterday!! He sounds great but he has a bad cold. He went to the doc who gave him cough medicine and tylenol. He said he got into trouble for coughing during uniform inspection. :( They have lost a few guys to medical or other reasons. We also got 3 letters on Wednesday. I am out of town and made my husband read them all to me twice. One of them was the form letter that I sent him. Those work great - got a lot of info from his answers. He said he liked it because he doesnt have a lot of time to write. I hope you all get a call soon.... Cindy

Yay!! I'm so happy for you that you heard something! It's good just to hear something isn't it?! Even if it's not much or they sound a little bummed, just KNOWING helps.I cried just walking back to my house from my mailbox and throughout reading it, until I called my husband (who's out of town) and until he said he thought it actually sounded really good. He's much more objective than I am!

I've seen it mentioned in other places on this site and I'm pretty sure it's the "punishment" term...he described as "more working out but in ways that are not helpful to your body." Still keeping high hopes for phone calls for all of us his weekend!!! (maybe?!)
