I agree with you.Diannep. my son has a nice savings in place from working here and me showing him how to save. I talked about consolidating some of his accounts. Now he wants to move them to the Navy CU. He has always been frugal. I did conveniently leave his phone at home so he wouldn't have buyer's remorse. He wants to keep his same number. Did I mention that he wants to give his sister his car, so he.can buy a new truck? His car is only a few years old and PAID for...

CarolP>  REALLY?  They brought someone in to get them signed up for credit cards?  Oh my...I hope that these people gave them the same talk you all did about responsible use....but why do I think they didn't????   ugh....

Reading all of these comments about the phone plans.....etc.  My son has had his own plan since he was 20 or 21 (25 now).  He has done well with it, always paid on time, etc,  He was always my "saver."  Until the NAVY!  YIKES!  We had a lovely conversation today...I say that sarcastically....he has been stationed for over a yr now...and seems that he is running out of money lately!  WHAT????  Well, he really loves going out to eat alot (even though his food is paid for in the galley--go figure), yadda yadda yadda.  We had a lovely SCREAMING match on the phone today...well, not the whole time...but I was pretty frustrated with him.  He had accumulated a nice savings down here since he worked for about 6 yrs before going into the Navy...and he wanted to "take a little" from that....UGH!

I need to send Suze Orman up there to live with him for a while...I'm watching her right now...she is my financial inspiration and I "cheer" when I am already doing something she suggests!  It's working for me!

Anyway....think this younger generation will ever be content with a B-U-D-G-E-T???  Not having much success getting my 2 sons to start one....sigh...sure was the way their dad and I lived when they were growing up and I continue to live that way.....phleeewie...

My son can have unlimited talk, text, and data plan for $35 a month on our plan. Oh no, because he was told that T-mobile gave great military discounts. Well, I took him in there yesterday. For $80 a month, he can have unlimited talk, text and a limited data plan. Of course I cam pay the $175 for early termination and it can look bad on my credit. HAHA. Stay tuned ladies, you only thought Battlestations was over. LOL...

shuga, i went thru that with my son.  he didn't even tell me that he went on his dad's plan, i found out on my own.  i asked him why and was he going to pay the termination fee.  well, he paid the termination fee with this next paycheck and said because "it's only $45 a month with dad".  well, he doesn't have unlimited data with dad, did with me and his phone has been cut off about 5 times since december when he didn't have the money to pay it.  i never cut it off, lol.

I really needed that laugh Shuga. What are these kids thinking? My husband says the same thing you do in one breath, the next he says that maybe I should send my grand new smart phone to him, instead of his phone..(text and talk) Obviously he is of no help.

Carolp I went thought the whole thing with my daughter having her own cell plan. I let her do it. Then when she couldn't pay her bill I just told her oh well u know my phone is never getting turned off, so who made the jacked up decision u or me?

Well, when we were at the airport this am, and I find out, the Navy brought someone in and signed kids up for credit cards. My son. Said, one boy bought an iPad at the airport. My son wants a new cell with his own plan. I'm trying to show him the difference of staying with my plan vs.going out on his own. Wonder who will win. We did have a long talk about responsible le credit use...
